Irmo HS has played for the SC Big 16 title 2 out the last 3 years. That is SC's division for the largest schools in the state.
He is from a great program. |

Aram currently has no offers, but he is interested in Ohio State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Clemson, South Carolina, and North Carolina. He thinks that most schools are waiting on his senior season because fullback is a difficult position to evaluate.
He likes the fact that Ohio State plays smash mouth football. BSB - Mike Wachsman - 07/02/05 A good student with very similar measurables to the highly-touted Chane Moline; he could generate some interest down the road. |

October 19, 2005 Irmo RB Getting Strong Looks By Phil Kornblut Irmo RB Aram Olson (6-2 240) is a power running, power blocking fullback who is averaging 7.5 yards per carry this season. He's used primarily for his blocking skills. Several schools are showing interest including USC, Clemson, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Maryland and East Carolina. He's been to Virginia Tech for a game. Georgia Tech is talking with him about coming in for the Clemson game and also setting up an official visit. He's also talked with Ohio State head coach Jim Tressell. New senior film on Olson has just been sent out and he is waiting on more responses from the schools. He has not been offered and has not set any official vi |

Olson's recruiting has been very quiet on the Internet sites, but the fact that he was a visitor at OSU this weekend is intersting (as LordJeffBuck mentioned in the visits thread). Rivals still lists him with no offers but they haven't done an update since July and Scout doesn't even have him in the database.

Irmo is 9-2 after losing last week. They will play Marlboro County in the first round of the 4A playoffs this friday. I might end up at that game as it should be a slobberknocker so I will let you guys know.

In this week's BSB Olson implies he would probably commit to OSU immediately upon receiving an offer, since he was just blown away by the gameday atmosphere and all the Buckeye tradition.

11/11/05 From Rivals100.com...Aram and his family visited OSU last weekend at the request of Dick Tressel. He got to take part in all of the gameday activities (pregame meal, unit meetings, the skull session, etc.). He met Jim Tressel after the game and they told him they would be down to see him in the near future. Georgia Tech has also picked up their recruitment of Aram. There is a lot to like about this kid...I was extremely impressed to see Schwartz's SPARQ rating. Then this morning I saw Aram's and it is even higher... I've got two guys scouting him tonight in the Marlboro County game. It should be a good test for him. MC has one guaranteed D1 LB and one D1 DE that Aram should get to bang heads against. I'll get the breakdown on here asap.

Ok, got a halftime phone call from a coach at the game. Irmo is overmatched against MC...26-6 at half. However, he said Olson is the real deal. He said he is a definite redshirt but only because he will need to get stronger. He noted he is a natural hitter and very hardnosed. He was also impressed with his athleticism. Irmo ran a FB seam off of a power playaction. Apparently, Aram blew through the secondary and was wide open, but the ball was underthrown.
Overall, the final analysis is that Aram has a high ceiling of potential, but will definitely need a redshirt wherever he goes. Last edited by osugrad21; 11-11-2005 at 09:58 PM. |
