I was looking at his career stats, and noticed that he's only played 2 years because he was a transfer. So I was wondering (because I don't know anything about the eligibility rules) is Je'kel going to be playing for us next year?

no, but it would be incredible if he were. looking at his bio, it looks like he played two years of juco, transferred (sat out a year while redshirting), and now is playing his second and final year at OSU.

Thanks a lot man. Not being that big of a college basketball fan, and not knowing many of the eligibility rules I have no idea which starters will be returning next year. All I know is Dials and Foster will be gone. I'm completely oblivious to the redshirt rules. Sullinger's listed as a senior, but I saw that he has only played three seasons. Will he be returning next year?

06 recruit JC PF Othello Hunter - 1 year at Hillsborough CC, will enroll at OSU for the 2006 season

Sullinger - 1 year at Arkansas, finishing his last of three years at OSU.
Lewis - 2 years at Bowling Green, playing his first of two years at OSU.
Mayes - 2 years at Redlands (JuCo), playing his first of two years at OSU.
Foster - 2 years at Chipola (JuCo), playing his last of two years at OSU.

This is his third season at OSU, but he spent his freshman year at Arkansas before transfering.

Dials, Foster, Sullinger, and Sylvester are seniors.
Harris, Lewis, and Mayes are juniors.
Terwilliger and Butler are sophomores.
Bell is a freshman.

Sorry if there is an obvious answer for this ?, but does Je'Kel have any chance of getting to the NBA? It seems he is having as good of a senior year as anyone in the nation, but there are always a lot of good college players that never make it. Seems like the NBA might go after a Ron Lewis type before they would Je'Kel. What do you all think? It seems to me he should get a shot if he keeps up the play we've seen so far, but my first guess is that he won't.

On a side note, how come we don't official threads for the basketball players? Just not enough interest yet?

We sort of have official threads on the 2005 class and the incoming 2006 class. In my opinion there hasn't been much of a need to add official threads on anyone before those classes at this point.

Chances of Je'Kel Foster making an NBA roster: 1 in 100
Chances of Ron Lewis making an NBA roster: 1 in 99
Chances of Terence Dials making an NBA roster: 1 in 50

Frankly, I would be shocked if anyone on the current roster made it to the league. However, there are several (Foster, Lewis, Dials, Butler, Sully, Syl and possibly Mayes, if he can clean his game up) that have an excellent shot at playing professionally overseas.

That's what I figured. This is the first year since Jackson, Lee, Jent, Perry, Burson, etc. days that I've seriously followed our team. For some reason I think the basketball board is going to be getting a lot more active though. Thank You, Thad Matta!

Frankly, I would be shocked if anyone on the current roster made it to the league. However, there are several (Foster, Lewis, Dials, Butler, Sully, Syl and possibly Mayes, if he can clean his game up) that have an excellent shot at playing professionally overseas.
Well damn, this was my first thought when I asked the question. What skills do you think the guys are lacking when it comes to the NBA. Just overall athleticness? Quickness? Help me figure this whole thing out. TD is good in college, but kinda seems one dimensional. I figured Foster and Lewis would have a better shot than him. I'm admittedly inexperianced when it comes to basketball talk though, so call me out if I say something stupid.

I think Foster and Detriot would be a match made in heaven with those defensive skills...but the chances are slim to none.

Regardless I'm going to miss the kid more than any other departing senior after this year.

I honestly think that Je'kel has the quicks, but mI aost teams look for a 2 guard that is a little bigger b/c they don't like to go 6'1'' at pg and then 6'1'' at 2g. It kindof thorws things off. I think he could be a lower end of the bench Free agent pick up after the draft.

As for Dials there is a nice chance that he makes a roster b/c of his size.

I also think there are outside chances on Lewis and Butler, as both of them still have time to mature.

Ohio State's Je'Kel Foster, who averaged 21.5 points and made 75 percent of his field goals and 77 percent of his three-point attempts in two victories last week, has earned co-Big Ten Player of the Week honors, the conference announced today. Iowa's Jeff Horner also was honored.
Foster, a senior guard who is Ohio State's leading scorer at 14.6 points per game, is shooting 55 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range. He scored 25 points vs. Minnesota on Saturday, three shy of his career high. The Buckeyes are 23-2 when Foster scores 10 or more points in a game.
With seven threes against the Golden Gophers, Foster ranks ninth all time on OSU's career three-pointers list with 115. Foster is Ohio State's leader in single-season three-point shooting percentage. He has made 53 of 107 this season (49.5 percent).
Ohio State (16-3, 5-3) will return to action at 7 p.m. Thursday in Ann Arbor, Mich., against Michigan (16-4, 6-3). The game will be televised by ESPN.
