Who cares? Kirk Barton felt like he was floating after the fifth-year Ohio State senior, with 14-3 win over Michigan in hand Saturday, climbed a wall to hug his mom, Brigette, and hand her one of the roses the Rose Bowl folks gave the Buckeyes.

Barton is the rarest of Ohio State players: Four Michigan starts, four Michigan wins.

?Their three big guys (running back Mike Hart, quarterback Chad Henne and tackle Jake Long) all turned down the NFL so they could come back, beat us and ride out into the sunset,? Barton said. ?I guess a funny thing happened on the way to the sunset.?

Here's a nice tidbit:

Kirk Barton is the first Buckeye to start and win 4 games against TSUN.


EDIT - According to a later SI article, Barton is the third to do this. Anybody know who the other two are?

This Senior class led by Barton did a tremendous job leading our young Bucks. Kirk led by example and vocally with emotion. These leadership traits will continue to provide dividends after he has moved on to greener pastures. His and Deonte's leadership make Ntre ames pathetic excuse of lack of senior leadership ring so hollow.

Thanks for a great career and congrats on the four pair of gold pants.
