DB Eugene Clifford - transfer to Tenn. St. (official thread)

Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Florida State, Purdue, Pittsburgh, and Alabama are in contact. Michigan has offered. Clifford states he does not have a leader and is wide open at this point.

My guess is he will get an offer from us right after signing day. Will that be too late? Lets hope not, I just hope we are already turning up the heat on him, b/c we have an uphill battle to climb.

Hopefully H&G is already working on him, along with Moeller and Smith.

I'm working him and I know that Connor and Tyler have been doing what they can considering Colerain is still alive for a D1 state title.

Eugene returned a punt 68 yard for a TD in Colerain's openning round playoff game. Between punts and INT's, Gene has someting like 8 TD's this year...
not bad for a DB, eh?


on a down note...I saw two scUM scouts on the sidelines this weekend watching Gene. OSU can not be as relaxed with Gene as they were with Moeller, if they want him...because Clifford will be the most heavily recruited player to come out of Colerain and a lot of schools will be coming for him. I would not count OSU out....you just don't let somebody this gifted in your home state get away without a fight...and I really do expect a fight.

Gene is pretty quiet...I think he's more excited about Colerain right now then anything. tsUN is the only school he knows right now due to Colerain camping up north every year...Get him on campus in Columbus and I am sure he will be blown away. I don't know when the OSU offer will come, but I have to suspect that it will come on signing day in February.

OSU will offer him shortly after signing day. However it does bother me that OSU didn't offer him yet, but that's my opinion.

BTW look for ND to offer soon.

Gene is not anti OSU...He does like OSU...he just doesnt' know OSU. I would venture to say he likes Florida the best at this point...but he hasn't visited Urban 'Drill Instructor' Meyer yet.

If true that would be exceptional news, especially seeing how he was supposed to be a big scUM lead. I would love to land this kid, he sounds like he is going to be a real player. Hopefully Moeller and Smith can help sway him our way. Perhaps Mister Simpsons experience is swaying in his thoughts.
