Gene was not asked to be a route runner at Colerain. He was simply asked to stretch defenses and out jump them in goal line situations. I have seen him fly past many a defensive back who was highly recruited: Adam Myers White (Tennessee), Amos (OSU) and Brandon Underwood (OSU)... The oddity about Gene is that he doesn't like to be timed for a 40...he only ran track for the first time last year and he ran the 200, not the 100. If you saw Gene run down Darius Ashley (st. x) in the playoffs this year, you couldn't help but notice the distinct speed disparity between the two. Gene made it look easy and effortless. Gene is a freak. He's tall with a muscular frame and he can run. When he was a sophomore, we Colerain fans actually debated what Gene's positon would be in College. Honestly, he could put on 25-30 lbs over time and be a badass OLB...or, you can keep him lean and he could be a badass WR...or you can add 10-15lbs to him and keep him at DB. The delimma is not whether he can consistantly burn DB's as a WR...the delimma is how many snaps you can put him on the football field every game. Gene has some learning to do, that's for sure...but, IMO, he was the best player in Ohio this past year and he'll be a difference maker for OSU for the next three years. |

If he is indeed as fast as he is, with his size, we need to put him in a position where he handles the ball frequently...

Geesh, let's get him on campus first.

how fast would he otherwise be?

Ok, so where does this leave Eugene after a stupid choice??
What bearing does this have (if any) on his status? I remember Quinn Pitcock got busted for underage drinking the summer before he arrived, IIRC. Resident law experts: Possession is a misdemeanor depending on the amount, correct? |

in ohio, possessing fewer than 100 grams results in a civil citation (less than misdemeanor) and no incarceration. possessing 100 to 200 grams results in a misdemeanor and no incarceration. clifford gets the death sentence, insofar as it relates to football, if he was found to possess more than 200 grams.

A tad early to be asking that question...
