Holmes
All this talk abut Ginn makes me wonder if people have forgotten about Holmes? Just because we have a kid with wheels doesnt mean that we shouldn't throw the ball his way. In fact the more we throw to Holmes the more he will get attetion leaving Ginn open deep.
On the other hand the Varsity coach at my high school coached Ginn at the Ohio Penselvania all-star game ( i know i misspelled that ). He said that they need to get im in the offense while he is there because with his speed he can could go pro in a second if he had the chance. |

Each had 2 catches...half of attempted passes went to these two vs. PSU
Against IU, Ginn had 1 catch for 59 and Holmes had 4 for 42 How is Holmes being forgotten? I'd have to say fans are simply infatuated with TG's big play ability and speed. Nobody is forgetting Santonio...especially not the 2 DBs he draws on every pass play |

I think Tressel's approach right now is perfect. Continue to allow the freshman to grow into his role, giving him more and more of the offense every game. Holmes is still getting the ball more than Ginn, as it should be, considering their experience level.
To play the devil's advocate however, Holmes has put the ball on the ground a lot this year (whereas Ginn has not yet done so with his limited touches). Next year, with an experienced line, a seasoned defense, and perhaps one or two top recruits to split carries with pittman our offense could be quite potent. Don't forget the 45, 52, 45, 50 points tressel put up during 4 of the 7 games in 2002. Then clarett (among others) got hurt and everything went downhill. If we are able to return to an offensive powerhouse, it will prevent defenses from keying on Holmes like they do now. When that happens, especially with a seasoned Ginn and other receivers, Holmes could have a breakout year. So don't disregard his pro stock next year in terms of him possibly leaving early. |

I loved 2002. But OSU would not be hated for all of its close victories against the PSU's and the Purdue's that year had clarett never been injured.
