You here this every year this freshman or that freshmen is going to start. It never happens, the transition is usally too much. They just don"t have the physical tools as a freshmen. The speed alone at the Big Ten level is usally to much to overcome.
Too bad you slept through the 2002 season... |

In general, however, I do agree with you that freshmen do not start at major programs, and that recruits who buy into that crap from coaches ("yeah, kid, you sign with us and you'll start from day one") are most often deluding themselves. |

I think Boone could be one of those once every 5 year guys-Big Kat,Pace,Clarret-to step right up and play like a star. Pretty much everything I have read has him pegged as the #1 OL in the nation, and said he would have been last year as well. The great thing about him is that he has almost perfect size 6'8 300-no excess weight to lose, but big enough to not have to worry about being pushed around. Barring injury, Mr. Boone will be a very rich man in about 4 years............

True freshman who became starters their first year at The OSU
-Clarett in 2002, starts every game, except when injured.
-Doss in 1999, starts last 2 games, filling in for injured Gary Berry and leads team in tackles against UM. -Pickett in 1998, starts by 4th game of season against Penn State. -Bailey in 1997, starts last 4 games of season. -Boston and Katzenmoyer in 1996, Boston starts from the Indiana game onward and Katzenmoyer from game 1. -Pace in 1994, starts from game 1. -Stringer in 1992, starts from game 1. -Smith in 1990, pass the gingko balboa, I cannot remember.
