What crap. If JL was afraid to compete he wouldn't have come to Ohio State in the first place, especially not to play LB. There's 3 full seasons of game tape out there on JL, 1 exhibition game with defensive scheme restrictions shouldn't be given the opportunity to outweigh 3 years of production.

Ohio State linebacker Marcus Freeman had hoped that he and fellow Buckeye linebacker James Laurinaitis would get the chance to play shoulder-to-shoulder one more time, but he said that Laurinaitis has been battling the flu and made the best decision to stay home. Meanwhile, Freeman is glad that he's in Mobile, getting an opportunity to play the game he loves. "It's great being out there and competing with the best players in the nation, having a chance to be rough and going out there and having fun," he said. "It's kind of like organized fighting. It's fun and I've always enjoyed it."

Three-time All-American to be recognized at halftime of Michigan State game for winning Lowe's Senior Class Award

Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis, who completed his Ohio State career as a three-time All-American in 2008, will be honored Sunday at halftime of the men's basketball game vs. Michigan State. Earlier this month, Laurinaitis was named college football's first Lowe's Senior CLASS Award winner for the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I).

The basketball Buckeyes and Spartans tip off at 3:45 p.m. in a game that can be seen live on CBS. Fans also can listen live on Buckeye Vision.

He wouldn't be on TV making bad predictions (track his mock draft because last year he missed the most of any national guy amongst the first 100).

I've read that McShay criticized the OSU coaching staff (a little), ignoring the fact that newly-signed agents may have a say.

I think Laurinaitis has proved his worth in the past four seasons.

I feel you brother. I wanted to reply back to McShay for questioning Beanie's toughness. Durability is one thing, but my do these idiots forget what Wells played through last year. Did McShay ever play football? I would like to see him put on some pads and line up five yards from Beanie and have him try to tackle him. I bet he would get a stiff arm special in the mouth.

JL's resume speaks for itself. We know it. NFL teams know it. What McShay says is irrelevant, so why give a [censored] about it? I stopped getting [censored]ed off at ESPN long ago. They're the TMZ of sports media.

Which scouts? Which teams? Here's what I dislike about the media. Throw out a general term, by that I mean no specific names or teams, and then spout an opinion. I cannot stand when writers/analysts attribute comments to unnamed sources. If no one has the balls to have their name attached to the comment, then it should not be printed. But then that doesn't sell real well.

Back on topic. James is a solid pick at a position that teams usually tend to wait on, particularly in this age of situation substitution. Playing in the Senior Bowl would not have changed that. The true talent evaluators, not the gossip columnists, have analyzed four years of JL film. They know his strong points, and what needs work.

Exactly. A poor showing is bad enough. Throw in some sort of freak injury and it would turn out to be one of the most costly weeks of a young man's life.

He played the entire OSU/scUM game 4 times resulting in 4 wins. He was a 2 time Big Ten DPOY, set a BCS championship game tackle record at 18 as a soph.
