The fact the Penn St. changed their entire bocking scheme to take Lil animal out of the game speaks volumes. They were leaving D-lineman free to make sure there was a 300 lb linemant to block JL. He hung tough and made some nice tackles down field. If teams want to change their entire offense to account for JL, that means he is doing his job.

Were is your proof PSU changing their whole offensive game plan around JL? Fact is I seen one blocker assinged to JT as it should be. He was being gobbled up. Slow to disengage from blocks and fill holes aggresively. I'm not a negative Nancy I think several players of our defense played outstanding tonight but not JL. I played linebacker so thats the position I watch every play and I have been watching good and bad play at the collegiate level for some time now. I watched blockers try to block Freeman today and it didnt happen. JT is a good player but fact of the matter is he didnt play well tonight.

Did anybody see that giant red mark (bruise?) on Laurinaitis' forehead after the game?

What happened? Did he head-butt half the team in celebration as the clock wound down, only to realize later that everyone else still had their helmets on?

I noticed that they were blocking him with lineman all night long (as opposed to a fullback). Maybe that is how they usually do it. To me it looked like they were game planning around taking him out.

On one play early on.. maybe their TD run... there are THREE blockers on JL... I agree, PSU was hell bent on keeping JL from beating them... and JL did not seem to be shedding them... kept wondering just how bad is that hip bothering him... cuz he was not our JL last night

Took another look at their first (and only) TD drive of the game. I'd say half of it was JL's own mistakes and the other half was PSU's o-line scheming against him. Either way, he didn't show up. It was particularly frustrating to see Freeman get blasted by their back-up FB on their TD drive but Marcus quickly found his game and came up with a few TFL's at critical parts of the game. All in all, the LB corps didn't have a great game but the rest of the defense picked up the slack.

When holding a team to less than 250 total yards and 17 (10 on offense) points is a "bad" game for your defense then you're doing pretty good for the year.

2 more to fix. Unless you think that they should have a blocker for Tressel, too. That would be amusing.

The Cure for Laurinaitis is the Heisman!

There are no really good quality Heisman candidates this year. BC's Ryan played well in the only real game for 3 minutes. Hawaii's QB has yet to play anyone. Teabow and Woodson both lost. JL is having an outstanding year! Why is no one talking about him as a Heisman candidate? If there was ever a year for a difensive winner this is it. The best player in college football may be a buckeye!

No offense but if anyone is gonna win the heisman from the defensive side its gonna be Glenn Dorsey DT from LSU...JL has had a great season so far but Dorsey has been unreal...

I'd give half of that credit to Kinlaw for making some beautiful cuts in the zone...the other half I give to PSU's scheme which usually equaled someone earholing James and walling him off. If you played LB, you know your first read is FB flow in the I and fast flow in the one back zone...the backside LB should be making the tackles on the cutback in the zone scheme as long as he is staying home and crossreading while closing space. You can blame JL for not getting off of those blocks as well as he should have...maybe...but in my humble opinion, the angles on him were pretty solid. Not many players in college or the NFL are making plays with that type of angle on him...when Kinlaw went out and Royster came in, there was a major difference.

To me, James did his job...just nothing extra. That was likely PSU's goal...make someone else beat them.

Taosman has disabled reputation
Our "D" line was getting pushed around. Larimore particularly was getting moved around a lot and people were getting to JL and walling him.
I guess Denlinger still isn't ready to come back.
Expect to see Wiscy use similar tactics.

I think that kinda sums up my feelings. Personally, I think we'll need more from the front 7 against TSUN. PSUs ability to push us off the ball early had me thinking about Meat's ability to run. We can do better and we'll need to IMO.

Oh, and an for Korchiki.
