In all seriousness, if a team can block you with one guy, why use two? The only way to get them to double you is to "make the play" at the LOS. If you're one or two gap scheme, you have to make the tackles in your gap(s). The next guy that can help you is 15 off. I understand what you mean by saying that a DT makes the play even if he doesn't get a stat, but, he can't make that play unless he requires two blockers (by making every play to his gap/side). Make sense?

That's what I was trying to say lol...if you consistently get penetration and make the tackle from your position, the OL will have to double team you. That's what I meant by "living in the backfield". In any event we haven't had a DT this year that any OL has had to worry about double teaming this year imo. Seems we mean the same thing though

Laurinaitis had 19 tackles against Unreal. little Anima isl Awesome and has so much talent. he sure made up for the tackles he didn't have against Penn State.

besides those 19 tackles didn't he recover or force a fumble and put pressure on the QB a few times to force throw aways. He's a beast

He had 9 solo tacklers, 10 assisted tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery. Not sure about QB pressures, but I'd assume he had a few of those too.

In addition to his 19 tackles, Laurinaitis added two tackles for loss, one quarterback sack and one fumble recovery to lead the Buckeye defense that allowed just 281 yards of total offense. Football: Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis has been named the Big Ten co-defensive player of the week for his 19-tackle performance against Wisconsin.
Laurinaitis also had a fumble recovery and two tackles for a loss.

Laurinaitis shares the award with Penn State linebacker Sean Lee. Michigan quarterback Chad Henne was named the offensive player of the week in the Big Ten while Illinois kicker Jason Reda was named the leagues MVP on special teams.

I try to stay away from the obvious stars, but sometimes it's necessary to mention a prospect who makes you jump out of your chair when you watch him go about his business. I'm referring to exceptional Ohio State junior linebacker James Laurinaitis. At 6-foot-3, 243 pounds and tremendously explosive, he's exactly what NFL defensive coordinators are looking for in a true leader and difference-maker, someone who can set the tone from an intensity and consistency standpoint each and every game. That was the case against Wisconsin, when he racked up 19 tackles and got one of the Buckeyes' 10 sacks. And one of Laurinaitis' key stops was on special teams. With Ohio State leading 24-17 early in the fourth quarter, Wisconsin attempted a fake punt from its own 27-yard line. Punter Ken DeBauche was tackled by Laurinaitis 3 yards shy of the first down. Shortly thereafter, junior QB Todd Boeckman connected with junior wide receiver Brian Robiskie on a 5-yard touchdown to put Ohio State up 31-17.
