I'm glad nobody called for OSU to take away my scholarship a couple years back. |

This is nowhere near the same league as LI and IG. When they tally OSU criminal offenses this should be in its own category. I compare it, almost, to Ricky Williams getting busted for ganja. Williams shouldn't get any fines or anything for that. If he tested positive for crack, then get him help, fine him, etc.
Same for Trapassedout. He's going to have to go do something like AA for this so people get off his back If he's the starter he'll end up answering questions like the coke Smoker from MSU about his "sickness" and how he overcame that obvious hurdle. I guess when can rule out the AJ standing for "Always Judicious". :boohoo: |

Just to clarify, it WASN'T a football scholarship. Didn't mean to imply it was. In general the point is the same though.
How would a coach even recruit under that policy? "Sure Mr. Johnson, we care about Junior getting an education. Two underage drinking tickets, though, and he's gone. You can't get an education or function as a normal human being when you drink before you hit 21. Here at The Ohio State University, our students pack the Main Library on Friday night." "But Coach Tressel, I had plenty of fun in college, and I turned out fine. We got drunk 3 nights a week on South Campus in the 70's." "Sorry Sir, but we cant have 18-20 year olds drinking beer. The press will hammer me." It'd be like recruiting for BYU or West Point. |

If you think for a min. the other players aren't drinking (sure a few prob. don't drink... but most do), you're kidding yourself...
Maybe I was an A-holic, while in school... I just don't see getting ripped that big of a deal for a kid in college... I don't know how may times I had to get friends out of Athens drunk tank in the middle of the night (and later on, at the county jail for doing stupid stuff...)... but then again there wasn't anything to do in that town, except drink, party, and chase the ladies... |

This is a bull[censored] situation. This kid is only guilty of getting caught for what 99% of us did at his age.
Give the kid a break and let him be a kid. Sadly, now Courts are involved. The next time any of you "Holier-Than-Thou" asses are cruising down the hoghway and see your speedometer hit "70" why don't you turn your ass into the local PD. Be'atches!!! |

I actually feel bad for him. He has been caught for something that most kids his age do. I know many students that I work with that are underage that drink. I just wish he would choose his times and places better. But as far as removing him from the team is just silly. There have been a host of more serious "crimes" comitted by players in the last 2 years that would warrant such treatment, but I don't thik AJ's are that serious. Hopefully someone on the team will step up and help him be more careful.

Lets be real about all of this. More than likely 75% of all college F/B players
take a drink once in a while but alot of them do not get caught. Out in public and drinking is going to get someones attention. We are all under some sort of looking glass by anybody even the law. And law enforcement personel are sending out messages that alot of young people are really not heeding. "Oh that will never happen to me" is what they say. But guess what. [censored] happens or I should say Do-do occurs. So because Trespasso is an Ohio State Football player - it makes quick headlines because anybody in uniform who represents an institution is suppose to sent an example. Its a no win situation that is going to repeat itself over and over again. Thats just whe way our society is today. Sad but True. |

Was that intentional? ![]() Tressel's prayer: "... and forgive us each day our Trespassos even as we forgive those who Trespasso against us..." |

This is one place where I see that the NCAA could step in and take the burden off of the coaches and the schools. They could establish standard protocols for dealing with legal situations that all schools would have to follow across the board.
I'm not big on the NCAA having great authority over things based on their history, but I think that if we had established guidelines then we could eliminate some of the other issues that go along with this. In other words Lloyd, Bobby or the others couldn't give preferential treatment to star players that got out of line. They would have follow the same protocols as any other school. |

Bucintheboro : You caught that one Huh ? Yeah it was intentional but your Tressel prayer is really a capper. I liked that one even better.

He has had a rash of bad luck. When I was underage I know I drank more than twice in 10 days, hell I drank more than twice in 2 days. I didn't consider myself having a problem, I may have been stupid, but I didn't have an alcohol problem. After a while of doing this I calmed down and only drank occassionally |
