Some of the worst acting I have ever seen . I hope he doesn't end up in movies like Brian Bosworth.

Well, the obvious reason is I don't see many here on the GD board and thought a little breaking (HEHE) of the rules would stir the pot-it has gotten to scraping the barrel for topics..........

RB Eddie George (official thread)

Maybe Curtis Martin?

I just wanted to get some feedback from ya'll. After following the draft this year it is amazing to me the way people look at cedric benson. I am obviously biased but the guy has been nothing short of amazing since the first time he won a texas state championship as a sophmore. He is now the 6th alltime leading rusher in the NCAA. I understand that he isnt ted ginn or reggie bush or even cadillac willams, but I think that he is a better back. I dont know if there are any bears fans on this board, I'm gonna guess no, but i think that they have a great one on their hands. This kid lives football yet all I heard was ricky this and weed that. Teams even asked him if he was going to show up for practice. That seems laughable to me as he was one of the undisputed team leaders. (after talking to friends that played on the team the two names that always came up were cedric and david thomas) As an old oilers fan watching cedric brings eddie george to mind with his work horse mentality. I guess the point of this thread was more to vent but also to pose these questions to the board,

has there ever been a back punished more for being consistant? or do ya'll agree with the talking heads and think that he will be a bust? Am I just a blind homer?

in the buckeyeplanet mock draft i was minnysoda and i traded up to the #2 overall spot just to get benson....

imo...benson, mike williams and mike nugent are the only "can't miss" skill players in the draft...

hopefully a few kids learn from benson that marijuana is a no-no and is not worth ever using....ever... i've never touched it and am still alive....

Might need a title change, but I think most guys here have serious respect for Benson. Any guy that can have success against 8-9 guys in the box is incredible. He's no speedster, but speed is overrated. I think he could be a very talented back.

Talking heads are consistent in one thing, being retarded. Heck, talking heads for the heisman race have Chris Leak pegged as a legit contender but rarely mention Tate. Or they put Michigan in the top-3 despite losing their offensive MVP and tons of players on a D which was horrendous last year.

So don't get too worked up about it.

Talking heads hate on Eddie too, who woulda had a much longer career if they had ever bothered to get him some help back there. I'm guessing that's why this thread is titled eddie.

I don't know benson well... but, I saw him cry on TV... if he was emotional, great. However, he explained that he was tired of everyone comparing him to ricky etc.

From that and his interview, he looked soft to me. He was drafted by the bears. I don't think that helps alot. He may not as well as Ronnie Brown.
That's just my prediction.

Just because Benson showed emotion on the day his NFL dreams came true, doesn't mean he's soft. For the last several years, he's just kept totin' that rock. Soft players aren't this productive or durable:

In 49 games for Texas, Benson carried 1,112 times for 5,540 yards (5.0 avg.) and 64 touchdowns.

In high school, he rushed for 8,423 career yards (No. 4 in Texas history/No. 1 in Class 5A history), scored 127 touchdowns (No. 2 in Texas history/No. 3 nationally) and averaged 183.1 yards and 2.8 touchdowns per game during his career.

I expect him to be a good back for several years, as long he is used correctly. As seen with Eddie (and a lot of other great backs), you usually can't just give the guy the ball 30-35 times a game and expect his body to hold up for more than 6-8 years. Obviously there are exceptions (Emmitt Smith comes to mind), but in general, I think the Bears would be wise not to use him like the Titans/Oilers franchise used Eddie.
