Actually, this year's trio of Laurinaitis, Freeman, and Grant could very well rival the 2005 trio of Hawk, Carpenter, and Schlegel...

Sorry, but nothing about the way Larry's looking strikes me as "Peace".

[off topic]The DL has a long way to go to be close to the 2002 group. I wouldn't mind if they got there, but right now it's not even close[/off topic]

In terms of football IQ, knowing where to be at all times and being more physical than the opposing offense, this group has a long way to go to get where Hawk, Carpenter and Schlegel was.
Grant is big and fast. Will he play with more control and make plays when it counts? Will Freeman tackle better at the point of attack? Will Laurinaitis provide the leadership and killer instincts that Hawk provided? Those are some pretty big shoes to fill. And don't forget what Hawk, Carpenter and Schlegel did to Vince Young that night. That was a GREAT defensive performance. |

Does anybody else feel with teams looking out for on JL that Larry Grant is going to blow-up this season and become the next Lawrence Timmons 1st rounder for pittsburg Breaking down Lawrence Timmons - USATODAY.com ?

Senior rotating in before juniors Jenkins and Gohlston, makes sense.

Larry's going to get the first Buckeye turnover of the year today. I can feel it but I'm not sure its an interception. I think fumble recovery off a blitz and Vern Gholston sack!

Just rewatched the game...
I absolutely love the way that Larry cheers the team on the sidelines. He was a big part in the energy boost that we experienced early in the 3rd quarter. Not only did he make the stop on 1st down of the 3 successive tackles-for-loss that preceded the blocked FG, but he played a big role in cheering on the offense too. And earlier in the game he was the most energetic in cheering Beanie as the big tailback blasted a DB out-of-bounds like a rag doll. |
