I'm not entirely sure on this but I heard that they had him play safety and he only had 1 tackle. Apparently his name wasn't called much which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing at safety but I didn't actually get to catch the game so this hearsay is the best I can offer.

absurd to think they could use a tosu linebacker and make him a safety, even if it is just for a game..we would have done it if it was best!

OSU LB Grant one to watch in NFL draft

Ohio State LB Larry Grant played in the shadow of linebackers Marcus Freeman and James Laurinaitis while playing for the Buckeyes last season, but now the often overlooked linebacker is ready to emerge and grab some spotlight of his own at the NFL Combine this month.


The 6-foot-1, 232-pound strong-side backer finished the season fifth on the team in tackles with 51 and tied for second in sacks with five. Yet the linebacker?s production went virtually unnoticed and he heads to Indy with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove to NFL scouts.
?I?m looking to show scouts that I?m a good all-round linebacker who can play safety if need be and can learn any defense in the NFL,? Grant said. ?I don?t have a preference to the type of defense I would play in. I just want to play. I?m a very humble, hard-working, person and I want to continue to be that way. I feel like it?s going to take a lot of hard work and I?m willing to make that sacrifice.?

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Three former Ohio State football players will be among the professional football prospects undergoing testing and drills at the National Football League Combine Feb. 20-26 at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis.

All-America offensive tackle Kirk Barton, a first team all-Big Ten selection as a junior and senior; linebacker Larry Grant, who made 14 career starts for the Buckeyes; and All-American Vernon Gholston , who declared for the draft after earning Big Ten defensive lineman of the year honors as a junior, were invited to participate by the NFL.

Offensive linemen will work out on Saturday, while defensive linemen and linebackers are on the schedule for Monday.

Larry Grant showed up yesterday for the start of the NFL combine in Indianapolis with a clear head and a light heart.

The Ohio State linebacker and his girlfriend, Chantel Adams, had been expecting the birth of their first child. The due date was Feb. 23, smack in the middle of the combine, a critical job interview for Grant.

But Isaiah Dupree Grant did his daddy a favor, arriving Sunday evening, six days early.

"He was born at 11:14 p.m. -- 7 pounds, 12 ounces, 18 3/4 inches," Grant said excitedly Monday night. "My son is here now, so it's going to be a lot easier to go to Indianapolis."

Grant is one of three Buckeyes invited to the combine, along with defensive end Vernon Gholston and offensive tackle Kirk Barton. Of the trio, Grant clearly has the most to prove. Gholston is projected to be a top-10 overall pick. Barton likely will be taken somewhere between the third and fifth rounds.

But at this point, Grant is not expected to be drafted.

"I feel like I have a lot to show everyone," he said. "I don't feel I have to prove anything to anybody, I just feel like I have to showcase my talents."

Grant posted an unofficial 4.71 40 at the combine today, thats about the middle of the road as far as all the linebackers that have ran thus far. Not sure yet about his second attempt.
