Boozer made a deal.
The Cavaliers couldn't match the Utah deal because of the salary cap. They didn't have to break his contract. They did it to give him more of what he deserved. By the way, when I was younger, I took a job. 2 Weeks later, before I started my new job, I was given another job offer for more money. I stuck to my word, and stayed with my committment. Believe it, or not. Boozer was given $5 mil, but it still wasn't enough. Anyone that thinks what Boozer did was ok, I have no further reason to discuss this with you. He is a lying scumbag....................................... |

Love to see Michael in wine and gold!
That would be a nice punch with LBJ and Z. |

The problem, and I wouldn't expect you to know this, is that Milwaukee is saddled with millions of dollars of cap money that is being paid to players no longer with the team. Players George Karl brought in during the "Big 3" years when they were one win away from the finals. That money is off the books after this year. The only way Michael leaves is if Milwaukee doesn't want to pay him for what he is perceived to be worth. I love Redd, but he hasn't been able to quite reach that "top level" of guys... He can be shut down...doesn't happen often..but guys like Shaq and Duncan, A.I., and Kobe just don't get shut down. He is in that next level below the "superstars"... but he will get superstar $$$ ... that is just the way the NBA is set up.... I think Redd stays a buck. Heck there is talk of them getting Ray Ray back..since he loved Milwaukee. |

I know Milwaukee has tons of cash, but he's stated he wants to stay and they still haven't presented him an offer, or at least one he can't refuse. They may be waiting to see what sort of offers he gets on the open market. I'm not sure Mike will ever make it to superstar status since it seems he prefers jump shots to driving to the hoop.
I don't see what's wrong with him going to Cleveland. If the Cavs can keep Z, and James, Redd would be able to camp out at the 3 point line. Playing on the same team as James would provide 10 times the exposure he gets in Milwaukee. Any team with a solid post game would help get him more open shots than he's getting now. Whatever he does, I just hope he gets as much $$$ as he deserves and is on TV more. |

Milwaukee is hoping they can sign Z next year... That would provide the low post player we desperately need. We are still waiting word on whether or not T.J. Ford will ever play again...he was a top 10 pick for us that had a spinal injury.
That hurts a franchise like ours when your lottery pick is maybe one year and done for a career. I know Clev. is now "media friendly" because of Lebron...but before him...they were the abyss. I just wonder if he will want to stay a Cav on his next contract. |

BuckStocks, Ignoring your personal interest in Milwaukee, do you really think that's the best place for Mike? I really don't care where he plays as long as he gets the recognition he deserves and I don't think he will get it playing for the Bucks, at least not in the near future. He's 25 years old now and in his prime. Mike should be on a contender or at least a playoff bound team.

It is kinda hard NOT to ignore my personal interest.....kinda like it is hard to suspend my personal bias towards the buckeyes... that said..
I'm not sure why playing in Milwaukee is such a bad thing. Is every good player supposed to play in New York & L.A. ? Heck Lebron plays in Cleveland.... KG is in Minnesota.... IF you are good enough you will get recognition. Last year was Mike's coming out party so to speak.... he elevated his game. He got all star recognition. Let's face it... Cleveland hasn't been a very good franchise for a long time. Milwaukee was one game away from the Finals in '99 vs a Laker team they had handled during the regular season (one of the few teams to be able to say that). I had to go look up some #'s to see if I was correct.... here are the results... 2003-04 35-47 ? 2002-03 17-65 8th place in division 2001-02 29-53 7th 2000-01 30-52 6th 1999-00 32-50 6th 1998-99 22-28 7th 1997-98 47-35 5th 1996-97 42-40 5th 1995-96 47-35 3rd 1994-95 43-39 4th It's been almost ten years since you have even finished 3rd in the division. Not even a winning record since 97. Hardly a "sparkling" franchise. The bucks were marvelous in the 80's .. stunk in the 90's and were good again to start the 2000's. They are struggling mightily this year, but injuries have a lot to do with that. They still have NO post presence at all. Would Michael get more attention on Cleveland? Not sure of that. Lebron is going to steal the show and over shadow anyone else on that team. At least in Milwaukee, Redd can be the #1 name....the go to guy. He will always play second fiddle if he were in Cleveland. I thought you might find Michael's career #'s interesting to read.... this is the guy who is supposed to be the "franchise" player... He has averaged over his career 16.8 pts/game. Last year he was around 21-22 and this year he is the same I think. I will not bash Michael AT ALL.... but I don't think he is the franchise player some here may think he is. He is the best Milwaukee has right now - by far. He works hard in practice, plays D, scores...is fan friendly....can't ask for much more.... but if you were giving out max contracts - which I think he might get...cause.....doesn't everyone nowadays?....... I could probably think of a lot of other people who would be in front of him to collect that check. <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=3 width=772 border=0><TBODY><TR bgColor=#aaaaa4><TD align=left><NOBR></NOBR></TD><TD align=left></TD><TD><SPACER width="1" type="block"></TD><TD align=right>G</TD><TD align=right>GS</TD><TD align=right>MIN</TD><TD align=right>FG</TD><TD align=right>FG%</TD><TD align=right></TD><TD align=right>3P</TD><TD align=right>3P%</TD><TD align=right></TD><TD align=right>FT</TD><TD align=right>FT%</TD><TD align=right></TD><TD align=right>STL</TD><TD align=right>BLK</TD><TD align=right>TO</TD><TD align=right>PF</TD><TD align=right>DQ</TD><TD align=right>OFF</TD><TD align=right>DEF</TD><TD align=right>TOT</TD><TD align=right>AST</TD><TD align=right>PTS</TD></TR><TR bgColor=#ecece4><TD align=left><NOBR>Totals</NOBR></TD><TD align=left> </TD><TD width=1><SPACER width="1" type="block"></TD><TD align=right>276</TD><TD align=right>143</TD><TD align=right>30.0</TD><TD align=right><NOBR>6.2-13.6</NOBR></TD><TD align=right>.454</TD><TD align=right> </TD><TD align=right><NOBR>1.7-4.1</NOBR></TD><TD align=right>.405</TD><TD align=right> </TD><TD align=right><NOBR>2.8-3.4</NOBR></TD><TD align=right>.839</TD><TD align=right> </TD><TD align=right>0.9</TD><TD align=right>0.1</TD><TD align=right>1.2</TD><TD align=right>1.7</TD><TD align=right>0.0</TD><TD align=right>1.2</TD><TD align=right>3.0</TD><TD align=right>4.2</TD><TD align=right>1.8</TD><TD align=right>16.8</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> That said.... rumor has him going to Denver for Nene Hilario(sp?). I love Michael and hope he stays.... I don't think he would get much more pub if he played elsewhere unless it was NY or LA....but then who wouldn't.... that is what the NBA sells. Same as baseball(puke) |

Past failures and successes of either program do not matter here. Only the teams current performance and future potential are worth looking at. Mike isn't going back in time to play for Milwaukee, or to the Cavs w/o LJ.
Unfortunately Mike doesn't have they type of game to elevate himself to superstar status, he's not a flashy dunker, and isn't going to put up 50 on someone. He's mainly known for outstanding shooting. His quiet demeanor doesn't draw attention to him either. KG and LJ, McGrady, these players will draw attention regardless of where they play. Quote:
I'll also point out that Milwaukee is one of the smaller markets for NBA teams, this automatically reduces his pub. I would guess the Bulls may still have fans in the area? Quote:
I agree with you that Mike isn't a franchise player. As I stated before, I don't care where he ends up as much as I care that he receives the $$ and recognition he deserves. For this to happen I think he needs to be on a team with a big man that can draw defenders and a decent PG. Obviously it's possible the Bucks will turn everything around next season, but I think he can do better than Milwaukee in it's current state. It sounds like there is one thing we probably agree on. Baseball SUCKS!!! |

Redd would be even better playing with LeBron.
I hope the Cavs find a way to get him. |

There's a rumor that the Cavs might trade Pavlovic, Varejao, and Jackson for Redd. I would love to get Redd, but not at that cost. Take Varejao out of that and I would take it. They need to wait till the off season and see if they can sign Redd or Ray Allen. I'm sure there are plenty of good shooting guards out there that would love to play with Lebron.

from a bucks board:
As an FYI on the Cleveland trade, about 3 weeks ago, Larry Harris was asked on a radio show about rumors that the Bucks were going to trade Redd to the Cavs for Luke Jackson and Anderson Varajao. Harris laughed and said...."Yeah, that would be a GREAT DEAL....for CLEVELAND.....let's see, an NBA All-star, third team all-NBA for two guys who can't even get off the bench in Cleveland....no, that isn't a trade we will be making" here is another one being thrown around: 1. To Denver for Nene and a future first-round pick. The Bucks would then try to trade Smith or Van Horn to free up more cap room after the season so they can extend Nene's deal. also heard something about Golden State.... at this point who the heck knows.... Rumor has KVH and Joe Smith going to Philly for Big Dog and Corliss Williamson. Reason = KVH makes 15 mil this year and next... big dog is only signed for this year around same amt. That frees up that much more $$ for next year.... (this whole situation is a mess) Last edited by BuckStocksHere; 02-15-2005 at 10:12 AM. |
