I thought I read he was backing out due to his marriage this summer. I guess that was a false report. He sounds excited and I cannot wait to see him out there donning out contry's colors proudly as a Buckeye!

I think he is just going to miss some of the practices due to his wedding, but will rejoin afterwards.

Wizards 116, Bucks 103 – Host Washington moved a step closer to the coveted No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee will have to settle for something lower.
Gilbert Arenas scored 31 of his 43 points in the second half and the Wizards overcame a career-high 43 points from Michael Redd to beat the Bucks on the next-to-last day of the regular season last night.
Redd and Arenas combined for 62 points in the second half as the two catalysts dueled with playoff intensity for the chance to avoid Detroit, Miami or New Jersey in the first round. Rarely has such a fuss been made over fifth place, but no one wants to face one of the top three seeds when Cleveland, returning to the playoffs after a long absence, is an available opponent at No. 4.
The victory gave the Wizards a one-game lead over Chicago and Indiana and a 1 1 /2-game lead over Milwaukee. All four teams have clinched playoff berths, but their seeds won’t be decided until tonight. The Bucks, who would have clinched the fifth seed by beating the Wizards, ended their regular season with a 40-42 record and at the mercy of the results tonight to determine whether they will finish any higher than eighth.

NBA All-Star and Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd recalls not having many summer basketball outlets as a youth in Columbus, which is why he felt inspired to provide one.

The former Ohio State and West High star will conduct his sixth annual Michael Redd Basketball Camp this weekend at Olentangy High School.

Redd, with help from local coaches and players, will provide personal instruction throughout the weekend. The camp will focus on basketball basics.

"They look at the NBA and wonder what makes them so great, and it’s because they know the fundamentals," Redd said. "I look at it as a great opportunity to teach these kids the fundamentals — how to dribble, how to shoot, and how to play the right way. So it should be very exciting. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with these young people, and it should be fun."

This has been a busy offseason for Redd, 26. He’s running a similar camp in the Milwaukee area and preparing to train with the U.S. Olympic team in July.

It’s no secret that Ohio is a football state, but the success of Ohioans such as Redd, Le-Bron James, Antonio Daniels and James Posey has raised the state’s basketball profile.

"That’s the whole point for guys like LeBron, Antonio Daniels, and myself," Redd said. "You just want them to have the opportunity that we didn’t have, and for them to be advanced at a young age. That’s the bottom line.

I think there’s more talent in Ohio than a lot of people give us respect for, so it will be interesting to see Friday and Saturday what talent comes in and learns."

St. Francis - Guard Michael Redd glanced around the Milwaukee Bucks' training center Monday, looking at all of his young teammates who had gathered for the team's media day, and shook his head in amazement.
At the ripe "old" age of 27 and entering his seventh season in the National Basketball Association, Redd finds himself as one of the Bucks' elder statesmen as well as the undisputed leader in team tenure.
How time flies.
"I'm old, man," Redd said with a laugh. "(Rookie) David Noel said it's like father and son and I said, 'What father and son?' He was joking with me but I guess so . . . seven years and I'm 27 now so . . . I'll be the oldest starter. It's crazy."
If things go according to plan during the team's training camp that opened this morning, and through the exhibition season that will continue all month, the Bucks could be fielding one of the youngest teams in the league, with 26-year old Bobby Simmons, Mo Williams (23), Andrew Bogut (21) and Charlie Villanueva (22) expected to fill out the starting five around Redd.
Redd has spent all seven of his professional seasons with Milwaukee and only center Dan Gadzuric, in his fifth season with the team, comes close to having spent that much time with the Bucks.
The bottom line for Redd is that he has gotten to a point in his career where his influence on his teammates needs to stretch beyond the basketball court.
"When you lose (veterans) Ervin Johnson, Toni Kukoc and Joe Smith . . . this is Michael's team now," said coach Terry Stotts, who is entering his second season at the helm of the Bucks. "Last year he had a very good year with having the pressure of having a new contract. He came out and improved on his game.
"Now it goes beyond basketball. Now it becomes . . . everybody talks about leadership. This is his team and how he progresses with that role in addition to improving his game, that will be the next step. And the one thing I've always said about Michael is whenever there has been a challenge set in front of him, he's exceeded the expectations."
Redd, who has always been a lead-by-example type, said, "I'm just going to keep playing and getting better."
It can be debated what kind of numbers the Bucks need from Redd to best suit their purposes.
Do they need less scoring from Redd than last season, when he averaged a career-high 25.4 points, or more? Is it important that the Bucks get more from Redd in rebounding and assists than the 2.9 assists and 4.3 rebounds he averaged last season?
Redd said Monday that he thought it would be beneficial to the team if he scored less this season and others picked up a greater share of the scoring load.
He harkened back to his early days with the team, when Sam Cassell, Ray Allen and Glenn Robinson were known as the "Big Three" and did the bulk of the scoring. None, Redd pointed out, ever needed to average 25 points, as he did last season. They won in those days partly because they spread the scoring burden around. Allen's highest scoring average with the Bucks was 22.1 points in 1999-2000, Robinson's best was 23.4 in 1997-'98 and Cassell's was 19.7 in 2001-'02 and again the next season.
Redd would like to see the Bucks establish the kind of scoring balance that the Big Three had and he thinks that is entirely possible this season.
"I looked at Ray and Glenn and Sam's stats when they were here and they scored 20 points a game . . . or 19, 22 or 21 . . . and we won," Redd said. "And everybody else scored and had a share of the pot. That would be great (this season). That was the beauty of the Big Three.
"Ray, Sam and Glenn, I learned from those guys. Ray didn't average 25 or 26 points when he was here. He only averaged 20 or 21. He had great players with him so that's what I'm looking at now to get those (other) guys' confidence going. Get Mo to average a lot of points . . . and Bobby and Charlie and Andrew. It'll help me out."
Redd does have a couple of personal goals in mind for this season.
"Have a career high in assists and rebounds," he said. "Those will be the things I'll be focusing in on a lot, too."

Bucks 105, Pistons 97 ? Michael Redd scored 37 points, Charlie Villanueva had 16 points and 12 rebounds in his Milwaukee debut, and the Bucks beat host Detroit last night.
Richard Hamilton and Chauncey Billups each scored 25 points and Tayshaun Prince added 16 for the Pistons, who lost All-Star forward Rasheed Wallace midway through the third quarter.
Wallace was called for a second technical for bickering with officials.
Knicks 118, Grizzlies 117, 3 OT ? Quentin Richardson hit two free throws with 12 seconds left in the third overtime and New York beat host Memphis.
Richardson led the Knicks with 31 points and Jamal Crawford had 21.
With the Knicks up 108-106, Chucky Atkins forced the third overtime with a layup with 28 seconds left in the second OT.
The Grizzlies? Hakim Warrick hit a free throw with 4.9 seconds left to send the game into the second OT tied at 100.

Redd's 57 points can't save Bucks from loss to Jazz

MILWAUKEE (AP) ? The best night in Milwaukee Bucks franchise history was not enough for a win.

Michael Redd scored 57 points to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's franchise record, but Matt Harpring made a layup with 1.8 seconds left to give the Utah Jazz a 113-111 victory over the Bucks on Saturday night.

"I will probably just go home and thank God," Redd said. "A second-round pick, a guy that didn't know if he was going to make the team or not, to this. I am just grateful. I can't describe it.

"But I wanted to win. That's the main thing. It probably would have felt better if I would have won the game."

The Bucks almost did, as Redd's 39-point second half helped erase a 24-point, first-half deficit.

But Carlos Boozer scored 32 points and Deron Williams had 27 points and a career-high 15 assists to help the Jazz move to 6-1 for just the fifth time in franchise history.
The Bucks dropped their fourth straight to fall to 2-5, their worst start since 2000-01.

Redd broke the franchise scoring record of 55 set by Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA's career scoring leader, against the Boston Celtics on Dec. 10, 1971.
Redd made 18 of 32 field goals, going 6-of-12 from three-point range and 15-of-17 on free throws.

It was Redd's first career 50-point game and sixth career 40-point night. He has scored at least 30 points in four of seven games this season.

Redd's previous career high of 43 points came in a 116-103 season-ending loss to Washington last April 18.

Redd said he has never scored 57 at any level. He said he once scored 56 in an AAU game in high school.

"At first I thought it might be a difficult night because I knew they would hone on me," Redd said. "I had no intentions of trying to come in and score 57 points, just play basketball and see what happened. It happened.
"A lot of shots were going in, I don't know how."

The Jazz dominated much of the game, but saw their big lead evaporate in the fourth quarter behind Redd's 25 points in the period ? including 11 in the first 2½ minutes of the quarter.

Utah still led 109-102 with less than two minutes left, but Ruben Patterson hit two free throws to cut the lead to five with 1:08 remaining. Andrew Bogut's dunk and free throw made it 109-107 with 39 seconds left.

Williams then missed a three-pointer on the other end, and Redd was fouled on the rebound but missed the first of two free throws with 12 seconds left to keep it 109-108.

Redd then fouled Boozer on the inbounds play, and he made both free throws to put Utah up three with 11 seconds remaining. Redd then curled off a screen and nailed a three-pointer from the right wing with 6.9 seconds left to tie it.

Williams, however, dribbled quickly down the floor and found Harpring cutting on the baseline for a layup with 1.8 seconds left.

"I saw an opening and got a great pass," Harpring said. "I knew I had a back door, caught eyes with D-Williams and he made a great pass."

Redd missed a fadeaway 27-footer at the buzzer.

"I thought I was going to make it, actually," Redd said. "It felt good, and it just went off to the side."

It was not all good news for the Jazz, who lost forward Andrei Kirilenko to what the team called a severely sprained right ankle midway through the second quarter. Kirilenko, who was in a walking boot after the game, appeared to roll the ankle while vying for a loose ball on the left sideline with Milwaukee's Ersan Ilyasova.

Williams, a second-year player, continued his solid play. He had 18 points in the first half ? including his first three-pointer of the season ? one night after sinking 10 of 15 shots and scoring 26 points in a win over the Celtics. Williams had 14 assists Friday.

Boozer scored 14 points in the third quarter en route to a season high.
But the story was Redd, who outscored all of his teammates, 57-54.

"You know, I've seen Michael Jordan and those guys do that, but, Michael Redd, he's just sensational," Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "I'd say tonight is right up there at the top with any of them in that situation. He brought his team back and gave them life, and they knew they had an opportunity to win."

Utah was in control early, taking advantage of a porous Bucks defense for a series of layups and dunks, as fans booed. The Jazz almost put the game out of reach early in the second quarter with a 16-0 run before Redd's charge.

"We didn't win the game," Bogut said. "(Redd) played a great game individually, but I am sure he would much rather score 20 points and get a win. He would much rather get a 'W' than have someone score 60."
Patterson made his first seven shots and finished with 18 points.

Utah rookie Paul Millsap had a career-high 15 points and Harpring had 17.
Notes: The Jazz have won four straight games against Milwaukee and seven of nine. ... Redd has scored in double digits in 87 straight games, the fifth-longest streak in team history. Abdul-Jabbar holds the team record. He scored in double digits in all 467 games he played with the Bucks. Besides his 55-point effort in 1971, Abdul-Jabbar also scored 53 points four times in a Milwaukee uniform.

your right. I thought JJ was the man for his years but, Redd blew by him years ago and is getting better each year which, is scary.
