He had a GPA of 3.52, an honors GPA of 3.71 and was ranked No. 11 in his graduating class of 175 students. He was an All-Area first-team selection as a wide receiver and received a football scholarship to Ohio State where he plans to major in business management. He also was a three-year letter winner in basketball and collected four gold medals in track as a member of the four-time state champion 1,600-meter relay.

This is really impressive, we won't have to worry about him staying eligible. I really do put a lot of stock in high school grades when it comes to these players, it means they are disciplined and will get to work on and off the field. Every piece that makes the team stronger individually makes the team collectively even stronger.

I really hope Tressel continues to pursue these 'smart' kids as hard as he seemingly has in the past. It might be great on signing day to count all the stars associated with each recruit, but when they can't play because of their grades or aren't able to adjust to the college level, it doesn't mean anything.
