Roy Hall. Period. He waited until his senior year, and now he's on the Colts. Albert will get his chance.

Roy Hall was given a chance solely because of his athletic ability. Dukes doesn't have any freakish measurables.

I think people are forgetting Roy Hall got PT as a junior. Lot's of it, especially in 3 wideout sets. Anyone remember the Purdue game where he got ran down from behind by a linebacker, or the sweet catch in traffic against Northwestern?

Anyways, from what I've seen of Albert (coachtressel.com, spring game 2 years ago?), I've been very impressed. I think there may be other factors outside of his football ability keeping him off of the field. He definately has great hands, and I think the speed is good enough.

He just may have a shockingly great senior year, where people say, "where the hell did that come from?" Or maybe he just stays on the bench quietly and looks to catch on somewhere in the NFL.

Either way, good luck to him.

Roy Hall brings a lot to the table in special teams, as well as matchup issues. The comparisons to Dukes don't make much sense.

On individual plays, yes. Consistently? No.

Don't forget the crazy leaping grab he had when Texas came to town.

The level of play and competition at WR has been very high and a half hearted or inconsistent effort won't cut it on this team.
The best guys will play and the other guys have to keep working for playing time.
That's just the way it is at Ohio State now!

I think the knock on Dukes has always been his blocking and consistency. I really think so much of it is just attitude and if he gets that attitude, I think he could make a big impact next year. However I can't say that I see Dukes back next year...just a gut feeling.

The NCAA no longer allows student athletes to transfer without penalty to begin work on a post-grad degree. So to answer your question, no Albert could not transfer to another D-I program and be allowed to participate.

That is why App. St. made so much sense, but we'll see what happens.

A poster in bucknuts free board is claiming that Dukes is tranferring after spring quarter and a release has already been granted. Wish him the best, if this is true.

good luck to Dukes! Once he got in the dog house it was kind of an uphill battle from there...

side note Roy Hall made those catches against NW/Purdue in his Sophomore year, and the Texas Catch was his Junior year. Yeah you have to remember how Roy Hall made an impact on specials teams as well, and thats something Dukes cannot do

Unfortunately, there is one special teams' play in which Hall's impact will NEVER be forgotten by this Buckeye.

Good luck to Dukes at Valdosta.

You're right but let it rest. We lose that game if Teddy Plays or not. Hall was one of the most tenacious and successful blocking wide outs I've ever seen play this game. Hence Special Player!

Good luck Albert, thanks for hanging in there for so long.

Devon Lyons and Albert Dukes are attempting to graduate this spring and leave the Ohio State football program, but that wouldn't necessarily mark the end of their college careers.

The NCAA loophole that allows a graduate student to transfer and play immediately closes Aug. 1. If Lyons and Dukes can graduate this spring and enroll in grad school this summer, they presumably could play next season at another school.

Dukes, a Florida native, has been looking at Valdosta State, in Georgia. Lyons' case is more complicated. The Pennsylvania native's father is ill and he is looking into a hardship waiver that would allow him to play closer to home.

If neither graduates before the deadline, there is a chance they will use their final year of eligibility at Ohio State this fall.
