I have to echo the sentiments of above. Even though this appears it happened before he ever came up for summer practice, it reflects negatively on the entire program. Will he ever see the field for Ohio State? If we're becoming the new Miami, does that make us Scum South North?

If this happened in Florida last spring, before the kid even came to Columbus, how does this make the program out of control? Did Tressel give him a schedule of workouts for the summer, and instructions to commit a sexually oriented offense against a minor?

Anyway-- Having said that... this is a 2nd degree felony that, if convicted, will land him on a sexual offender Database.... after he gets out of the pokey... I tend to think throwing him off the team is pretty redundant at this point as he's got bigger fish to fry [be fried] than being in school... and thus... on/around the team.

Ironton, hell yes we were looking forward to Dukes getting PT in 05 anybody that says they weren't is a damn liar. The kid is an exceptional talent.

To say we have no control over what players do is bull[censored]!!!!

Technically I was in Tressel shoes in weird kinda way. I was a platoon Sgt. in charge of 96 men. Every time one of them got into trouble I got my ass chewed because they expected me to know who,what,where,when, why, and how about everyone of my Marines.

It's impossible to keep track of everybody,BUTT!!!!!!!!! I had some smartasses come in the barracks one night drunk and screaming. One of them pushed a Sgt. from another unit(assault under the UCMJ) I told the Sgt. I would take care of their punishments. It was 3:00 AM then and at 5:00AM I poured water on their drunk asses and made them buff the decks and clean the barracks for 16 hours.

My point is I nipped that [censored] in the ass before other idiots thought they could do it. None of my men ever came in the barracks screaming in the middle of the night again. I guess they didn't want to do what the other guys had too.

You have to punish people harshly when they do [censored]. I'm sure I had Marines that thought I was an asshole but I only had 2 Marines get a NJP(NON-JUDICIAL PUNISHMENT) in a years time. That was the Battalion low because I kicked their asses when they get out of line. Later those two marines thanked me because instead of getting sent to the brig(jail) I had them do that work.

You cannot be a nice guy when people do dumb [censored]. Going up to them and giving them a big sloppy kiss and saying its ok all the time is not sending the right message. Being nice and being a pushover are two different things.

Our staff yneeds to grow some balls and put a foot up some players asses and that will get their attention. This wishy washy bull[censored] obviously isn't working.

We rotated alot of guys in and out of the unit. Guys were coming and going every week. When a new guy got to the unit the I gave them a briefing(don't [censored] with me and life will be fine speech). When they did I stuck their nuts in a blender and made them wish they were dead.

I had new Marines that got into minor [censored] just like our football team. We could handle the little stuff in house. But when the [censored] got out of our immediate unti thats when Colonels and Brigs came into play.

If I'm a kid and I know I will get slapped on the wrist for something I will be more apted to take a chance. If I know my football career is over if I do this same thing I will be less apted to do it.

Marines are crazy and party hard. It was hard to keep a leash on them but I tried my best and the results were pretty good.

BTW AKAK how many incidents have we had this year that we know about? 10 or so...I would hate to know about the [censored] that we don't know about. Dukes may have done this before he was at Ohio State but it's still a blackeye. Most of the other incidents happened while the guys were on campus. Like a senior captain going to a strip club!!! WTF was he doing going to one DURING THE SEASON!!! He can't get any on campus or what.

The irony I see in all of this is that Tressel is in a no win situation with a majority of folks regarding what is happening.

You love him to death for bringing in exceptional talent, even if he had some bad history (see Smith or Izzary). Then, when that kid gets in trouble you crucify him for not controlling him.

Or, if he passes on an exceptional talent due to some unknown reason (see receiver at MSU or Ringer) you crucify him. When said receiver at MSU gets in trouble you say how smart Tressel was in not bringing him to the program.

I think Tressel tries to do what he believes is right on a case by case basis. That is one of the many strengths he brings to OSU. I am sure he will do what is right with Dukes and Smith.

Lets no use these guys in the same conversation please... While what Troy did... (I'm using the "improper gift" assumption) was bad... its still an NCAA violation... Dukes is looking at a 2nd Degree freaking Sex Crime.
