ESPN's doing their normal dissing of the big ten and Herbie's just going right along with it as usual. He doesn't need to be like Lou Holzt and be in complete denial about how good your team is, but come on man please stand up for where your from.
Also, why does it matter if you play a cake walk team at the start of the season, the middle or the end? Florida did it last year with the Citadel and I don't remember hearing half the crap that they are saying about Ohio State today. |

Iowa- If they win out, they're BCS bound, would they have enough offense to defeat a USC in the Rose Bowl? I have my doubts. tOSU- Much depends on how TP plays from here on out. If the Bucks take care of business, they're in line for a 5th straight BCS bowl. I would like our chances against a USC in the Rose Bowl if the offense begins clicking. If it struggles with the three tests to close out the year, I'll be very concerned. PSU- Despite their performance against a bad scUM team, they still have issues. If they reach a 2nd tier bowl, I like their chances. If they get into the BCS, I think they'll get schwacked. Wiscy- Depends on who they play. They'd likely get slaughtered by an SEC team. MSU- They have a lot of issues. Depends on their matchup. Minny- See above. NW- Same scUM- If they get into a lower tier bowl, they would have a good chance...depends on the matchup. IU- Still have a shot at bowl eligibility, not a very good team though. Purdue- Might have a chance if they get into a lower tier bowl. Illinois- Illinois has no shot here. All in all, the conference still isn't very good as a whole. Now, as for Herbie, he did have some nice words for Iowa. His vitriol towards tOSU might have some merit, I just wish he'd tone it down. As has been said numerous times, he seems to go over the top to not show any bias. |

I don't listen to ESPN pre-game, halftime or post game. I know they are going to rip the Big 10 no matter what. We do nothing well in their eyes. I live in Alabama and I have heard Herby interviewed on occasion on local radio. He rips the Big 10 every chance he gets and praises the SEC in those interviews (even though Alabama plays like and reminds me of a certain "lucky" team from 2002). The SEC is not as dominant as the media would have you believe (even though they are probably the "best" conference). The bottom line is that Herby needs to take a little advice from Michael Corleone and keep his innermost thoughts inside the family. His act (whatever the reason for it) has made him very non-objective. Jim Tressel, Ohio State and the Big 10 are not the anti-christ or the worst football conference (in fact, it may be the second best conference this year -- it is hard to tell since none of them are that impressive).

Just met Herbie and Desmond a little while ago. They're in town here for the Army-AF game this weekend and came in for a tour of the weather shop here on Peterson. Got to speak with them both for about 5 minutes. Both really layed back and nice guys. Can't say I agree with much of what either say, but they were both a pleasure to meet.
Two other Buckeyes were here in the building, so the four of us got to razz Desmond a little bit. Good time. Asked him his thoughts on DuckRod and m*ch*g*n's struggles and all he could say is it is hard to watch. He wouldn't really make any comments on the future...he just said "I don't know, man...". ![]() |

I was listening to 97.1 after the game and they were talking to Jim Cordle.
During the interview Cordle said(and I'm paraprashing: "I would like to thank Kirk Herbstreit for firing us (the O-Line) up. We had a really good game to and he was part of that, calling us bad and saying we'd be the reason we lost today." I gotta kick outta that. ![]() |

Bottom line... Herbie or non-Herbie... given OSU's record in big games the past few years, if you were an analyst would you pick OSU in a big game? Tonight might be a turning point for the positive that reverses what has happened since the UF game. The OL did play well and Herbie et al was wrong today. Perhaps the OL will continue to provide reasons for analysts to pick OSU to win big games. Today was a good performance and step in the right direction. I'm pretty sure that someone tried to give Herbie one of the UC "Buckeye State" shirts... and he said thanks now I have something to stand on or something to that effect.
