Nice article on AJ.

Great article on Mark McDonald. Someone from the Centerville area should contact him about joining the BuckeyePlaneteers.

LB A.J. Hawk (official thread)

Quote:
The Post: If you and your brother [Ohio State linebacker] A.J. [Hawk] were to go against each other head-to-head, with him orchestrating a linebacker blitz, who would win?

Ryan Hawk: Well, if I didn't have anyone to block for me, I think he would win. I don't know; I might be faster, but he's a lot bigger, so if he got me, it would probably hurt like he's done to a lot of other guys around the country.

Nice little interview with Ryan Hawk. I like the quote about AJ.

Hawk

...is a man among boys out there. I hope the rest of the guys make the decision to reciprocate the passion and guts he brings on every single down.

I'm not sure that any individual awards should be handed out after a losing cause, but Hawk sure as hell deserves some kind of accolades.

I agree. When the stat early in the game showed that he lead the B10 in tackles, it amazed me. He is an OLB. They usually don't lead a team in tackles, let alone their conference.

He has great instincts, and knows the game. You can tell he studies the opponents, and knows their tendencies too. He is a real football player.
He reminds me a liitle bit like Spielman, except Spielman was an MLB.

Makes me remember Speilman

I remember a Michiagan game - Chris Speilman got something like 22 tackles in a home loss.

Maybe Hawk's performance is even more impressive because the defense is designed for the runners to funnel to the MLB.

Great game, AJ. If we were 5-0, we'd be talking Heisman.

Hawk is great, but the only reason he had 20 tackles was b/c the defense was on the field way too long.

his speed in yesterdays game was amazing. He stayed home and the plays we he had to or was running side line to side line stretching out their running game. Hawk is a special player.

i agree that the d was on the field too long, but Hawk gets tackles, b/c he is a GREAT linebacker. He as it was said earlier is a man surrounded by boys. He has that something special about him, you can't coach it, he just has it

chuck_jax,
If your talking about 1986 when the score was painfully Tsun 26- Osu 24, then Chris Spielman had 29 tackles in that game. That still amazes me to this day.
AJ HAwk had some major hits I saw at the game yesterday. He is a special one.

BUCKY14 could go either way
AJ played an unbelievable game yesterday. He showed great pursuit, especially sideline to sideline. And he looked like one of the only players on this team that gave it his all until the final whistle. Pretty disappointed in this team's play, but AJ played his heart out.

I would like to see AJ Hawk go pro next year. I would love for him to stick around and he'd definatly be a top 10 pick after his senior year, but I'd be selfish to want him to stay and risk it all...... but I agree Hawk is our main guy. Not Santonio Holmes, not Nugent, its Hawk.

Hawk seems like a program guy - like Doss - he'll be back.
