Yup, Miliani, that's the one. BuckeyesKickButtocks got it right, Henne has not made the jumps that he should have (Scott Loeffler wasn't a very good college QB, was he?) under Loeffler's tutledge, and with the big, bad Michigan O-lines, he should have been showing better.
Now will someone explain to me how the Meatchicken quarterbacks go on to pretty substantial pro careers, and the OSU QB's don't? PS, I'll bet vCash that OSU ends up in Street & Smith's top ten backfields this year (which includes RBs and QBs. We are loaded with both. In fact, I could see us at #1, as Texas lost their QBs, and USC lost their QB and RBs. Oklahoma, Louisville, Meatchicken, Iowa?, might be there also, but after last year's performances, we'll be #1. Don't think Michigan State has enough depth at RB (although Drew Stanton could carry them). I know, wrong thread, but it's Friday. Hey BKButtocks, my wife taped the Fiesta over the 05 michigan game, so I had to go back a year ago. Better hide those tapes...... |

Heisman Week: Breaking down the candidates

Left his Heisman calling card: 408 yards in total offense against ND in the Fiesta Bowl. Why is he this year's VY? Because Smith figured out last year he has to make plays with his arm first. |

anybody else getting tired of the vy comparo's? imo vy and ts are radically different qbs. only real similarities i can see is that they are both athletic, both wear #10, and both black. other than that their play styles are very different.

The comparisions don't bother me much, if TS was 2 years older, they'd be calling VY the next TS... I see what you're saying, of course, but you know sports talking heads are always trying to deal up some "known" frame of reference to make their point. The way VY would put UT on his shoulders and go find a way is another similarity between Smith and Vince, I should add.

Troy has certainly seen his ups and downs since he arrived on campus, but I don't think anyone had a clue he would progress the way he has. I think he will be the best quarterback in the country next year, his ability to run and throw is something to watch.

Biggest difference between the two: Smith runs to free up the pass. Young runs to...run, and run...and run. Not a knock on him, cause the man can ball, but like its been stated before, two different playing styles.
On a side note, we could play a little guessing game as to what Troy's numbers could be this year. I'm thinking 3000/500. Dropping bombs all over the place, but keeping the QB draws to a minimum, extra yardage on the ground gained during crazy 3rd and 14 stunts. |

Texas was running Vince on a one read scheme basically though,,, if his read isnt open he takes a sack or takes off.. i saw more actual quarterbacking by Smith than Young.. also the prior year they tried to change Vince's mechanics,,, didnt work out too well so they let him go back to throwing with a low elbow.... I think Smith will be a fine NFL qb to say the least,, but I dont know if he will go first round,, first day definatly though
