Does anyone think this has something to do with illegal benefits? I hope he just beat the hell out of someone at a bar last night. I figured espn would be all over this, but I haven't seen anything on their website yet.

it appears Troy's fate is in the NCAA'S hands at this point.....OSU is petitioing for his reinstatement......not good, hopefully this isn't correlated to MoC allegations....whatever he did, must be very serious tho

Yep the most concerning thing to me too was the petitioning of the NCAA for reinstatement and yet it was not grade related. We need a full accounting of what exactly happened here.

The rumor mill says "illegal" benefits.I have been nervous about this guy ever since he had a previous problem on campus,now this.I don't care about the bowl game,but I don't want more flames from ESPN and more to give credence to the allegations of MC.Timing is never good,but couldn't be worse for OSU.I'm not sure if Smith is a one hit wonder or the real deal yet.I think Todd B would be the real deal IF we had a running game.

This is exactly what we didnt need. Our starting quarterback suspended for what sounds like indefinitely due to a NCAA violation....this gives the ESPIN more credability and again the focus is on the program in a negative manner.

If he broke NCAA rules then he should be punished accordingly. This is his second issue since he got to OSU. He is not being a leader off the field and that is really a disapointment. I want him to be successful, but as a fan of OSU I am tired of these kids not representing the universtiy in the appropriate manner, this is just terrible for him and the program.

Zwick gets a second chance now and I for one will be anxious to see what he can do with the different personnel around him and I guess its just a matter of time before we find out all the details of why Smith is sitting.

This is sad.

I could care less about who our QB is. I'm sick of all of these off the field issues. It makes me sick. Smith has let Buckeye Nation down.

If the admin staff has to petition for a reinstatement, then he is officially off the team. Is my thinking inaccurate? How can they suspend him for a game when he's ineligible in the NCAA's eyes.

This is not good.
