If you establish a running game, create an offensive line, and get some targets, any young QB you take will have an infinitely easier time.
For instance, let us look at the Bengals offensive resurgence:
Carson Palmer was drafted in: 2003
Chad Johnson was drafted in: 2001
Houshmandzadeh was drafted in: 2001
Rudi Johnson was drafted in: 2001
The second draft choice by the Bengals was: Eric Steinbach, Offensive Guard.
How about the Browns?
Players drafted before Brady Quinn or in the same year:
Kellen Winslow, Braylon Edwards, Joe Thomas, Lawrence Vickers.
Players acquired before Brady Quinn or in the same year:
Jamal Lewis, Joe Jurevicious, Kevin Shaffer, Seth McKinney, LeCharles Bentley, Hank Fraley, Eric Steinbach.
Of course Brady Quinn is going to have an easier time succeeding with a great supporting cast than David Carr or Tim Couch would with nothing.
Point being, Troy Smith has shown promise this year. What would be a better choice: Drafting a QB in the 1st round, and neglecting other weaknesses (Such as depth at WR and offensive line, as well as a few defensive problems), OR drafting offensive line and WR early, and drafting another underrated QB coming out of college (Matt Flynn is projected to be drafted in the 5th round)?
It should be an easy choice.

Agreed though I think it'd be a terrible idea to draft Flynn.

When they had Troy Smith and JaMarcus Russel on TV last night, with Russel wearing his Ricky Williams coat and Troy in a LaCoste polo shirt..
The reporter asked Troy what he thought of JRs outfit..
Troy: "It's a representation of yourself"
Very proud of the long way Troy has come and he represents both himself and the school very well. Nice knock on JR too, as it didn't look like they were very good friends.

I don't think they did either. I also feel as though that response to JR was due to his response saying the SEC is faster. Troy would smoke Jamarcus Russells slow ass. Secondly I loved how much more articulate Troy was. I understood everything he said... JR sounded like [censored]ing Boomhower from King of the Hill... man ol dang SEC speed dem dere. WTF?

What is a Ricky Williams coat? And what was that thing around JaMarcus's neck that looked like the Alabama logo?
