We don't. Look, I don't know how many of you went to OSU, lived on, or spent a great deal of time on campus: YOU HAVE TO HAVE INHUMAN WILLPOWER OR BE MARY POPPINS TO NOT GET IN TROUBLE ON CAMPUS. Its probably increased 1000% if you are a football player on said campus.
|
While I do agree with the overall message of your post, i.e., JT isn't and can't be held responsible for the players 24/7 or people outside of the program, to say JT is above being looked at struck me. I wouldn't look at JT as being responsible, but is there something he could have done to have prevented/discouraged this? I don't know JT personally, but I would bet Pete Rose $50 that JT has asked himself that question. It seems to fit his nature.
I was at OSU from '82-'91 and I completely disagree with your assertion of what it takes to not get in trouble at OSU. The key is to not get caught, or at least, not get caught too often.

Goof-Dawg: "Man, I've thought the same thing."
Yeah dude. Every OSU Grad or former/current student thinks the same thing. Its like our own group secret.
"I've been to some of those schools and I have friends at some they mention and it's laughable, even to the ones that have been on OSU's campus a decent amount."
No question about it. Each school has its own category: West Virginia is the easiest to pick up chicks, Miami of Ohio has the most stuck-up bitches, OSU is the biggest party school, yadda, yadda. Any moron college kid could write those lists way more accurately than some journalist who flies down for a two days to check out the school.
Has someone allowed me access to the Rumor Mill page yet?? How long does this take??

Some of this may be redundant, but I'm going to chime in with my 2 cents anyway. First of all, any player who takes cash from a booster (knowing full well that it's wrong) is a [censored]ing idiot. On top of that, with the [censored]storm that we've just weathered finally beginning to die down, any player who is totally [censored]ing stupid enough to do it now should be kicked off the team.
Granted, we may all be reacting too soon, but if he took improper benefits from someone, he should be kicked off the team. [censored] him. By doing this, he's putting the University's entire program at risk, he's putting over 80 other guys' college playing careers at risk, he's putting the coaching staff's jobs at risk, not to mention putting his own stupid [censored]ing self at risk.
If he's guilty, I say boot him. And that should be policy for everyone from now on. If you [censored] up, you're out.

I honestly couldn't say whether it was a result of the NCAA investigation or not. It could have very well come from some merchants looking after the University....see, not all merchants want to give things out, if that is the case.

Thanks Fol, that's what I thought, too. The reason I asked was that if the NCAA doesn't already know about it, maybe it COULD have been hushed up.
I get hammered for this opinion, but AG and JT continually do and say things that are stupid if they are culpable for some behavior violative of NCAA rules. They shouldn't be reporting stuff, they oughta be stonewalling, Dick Nixon style.

actually, I think they are saying all the right things with the exception of Geiger's continual temper tantrums and badmouthing. NCAA problems or not.

Can you violate an NCAA rule by having a certain GPA or failing too many classes?
