How do you measure commitment to your friends?

For those who don't remember him, Ron Springs led tOSU in rushing in 1977, and was one of the team captiains in 1978.

So moving this to the OSU Alumni Forum would probably be a good idea, eh?
Anyway. I can't read the article, because ESPN is blocked at work. Based on the the title of the thread, I would like to second Steve19's sentiment. What a great friend.

Brown's SportingBlog A friend in need finds out who his friends are, indeed
December 14, 2006
Former Dallas Cowboys teammates Everson Walls and Ron Springs are fully aware that being in the public spotlight is a constant, as a current and former NFL player. However that which became public recently they would have prefered remain private. Springs has been battling diabetes for 14 years, has lost his right foot to the disease and is in need of a healthy kidney. The old running back steadfastly refused to allow his son, Redskins defensive back Shaun Springs who wanted to be the donor, to be tested as a match. In steps Walls, who has just been tested and might be a compatible donor. Unlike some who can't bear to see Ron's current physical condition, Walls is a regular visitor and truly has proven to be a friend for life.
