Personally, I like Mobley as a SDE like Heyward. He just seems to have the brute strength to hold the edge against the OT, but not the ideal body to play at 280+. I'd like to see Rose move inside, especially now with Gibson at the DE/LEO. Now if Gholston goes pro, we may need Rose on the outside still, and if he can slim down a bit and regain some of his speed then again, outside at DE still. But, I just see:

SDE: Wilson/Heyward/Barrow/Mobley
DT: Larimore/Denlinger/Goebel
DT: Rose/Worthington/Abdallah
LEO: Gholston/Gibson/Thomas/Williams
(not a "depth" chart, but just to show what we have at each position)

Would this be so far-fetched and am I completely off here? Or, would this be a plausible scenario for us in 2008?

Mobley didn't claim anybody was his leader in the Scout piece -- osugrad21 inferred it. In the Rivals article, Mobley explicitly states that he has no leader.

Eden Prairie perhaps had some fun at Cretin-Derham Hall's expense when defensive lineman Willie Mobley scored on a 9-yard run with 6:12 remaining in the third quarter to give the Eagles a 43-21 lead. Mobley is considered Minnesota's second-most coveted recruit behind Floyd.

"We played Eden Prairie football,'' Mobley said. "Going into this, everyone was asking what are you going to do with Floyd, Nance and all those weapons. We don't have to do anything but play Eden Prairie football.''

They also limited Michael Floyd - the state's top recruit, headed to Notre Dame next year - to just three receptions. Floyd is one of four Raiders ranked among the state's top eight recruits, according to Rivals.com.

"If any college is going to come recruiting, they're going to look at Cretin first," said Eden Prairie defensive end Willie Mobley, who scored a rushing touchdown. "But there's a difference between having a lot of heart and having really good athletes."

The Gophers football team now has a 50-50 chance of landing Eden Prairie star defensive lineman Willie Mobley.
One day after helping Eden Prairie win the Class 5A state championship, Mobley narrowed the list of schools he's considering to Minnesota and Ohio State.

Mobley said he has not set a timetable for making his final decision but said he feels completely comfortable with both of his finalists. He has made official visits to both schools, spending last weekend on the Gophers campus.

"Minnesota is my home, and it would be great for my family and friends to be able to see me play," Mobley said. "I have a great relationship with coach [Tim] Brewster and the players and the program has a bright future, especially with the new stadium coming."

Mobley said his visit to Ohio State several weeks ago also reminded him of home.

"Ohio State's program is first class and it felt a lot like Eden Prairie, the way everything is all business," he said. "It's a place I feel comfortable at, too. This is going to be hard. I guess it's going to come down to a gut decision because I really can't go wrong with either school."

The only thing holding Mobley back maybe a qualifying ACT score. He took the tests a few weeks ago and is awaiting his score.

I would like to think that the choice between the worst team in conference and the three-time conference champion--which has a good chance of going to the national title game for the second year in a row--should be fairly easy.

Either standardized test will suffice.
