Wasn't he the guy that campaigned to be a captain and then didn't turn up at that season's "Captains Breakfast" with the other captains and past Ohio State captains? I remember someone on the team (Rudzinski maybe) calling him out after that.

Ken-Yon is in the CFL (Calgary Stampeders)- here is a bit of an update

When Stampeders receiver Ken-Yon Rambo heads home for the off-season, he's often going to different homes.

While the veteran football player likes to retreat to Dallas for relaxation after the tough grind of the season, he immediately starts on his part-time gig remodelling houses.

Working with his cousin, Tiger Harris, who lives in Los Angeles, Rambo helps buy repossessed homes, fixes them up and then sells it for a tidy profit.

Rambo expects to go into real estate full-time once his football career is finished and his cousin is giving him some real-world training.

"He finds them and I check them out," said Rambo, who has done two homes in Dallas while helping out with three others in L.A. "I see how messed up the house is. If it's really tore up, we don't want to worry about it.

"If it's something as simple as carpet or walls needing repair, or piping, we can fix it ourselves."

Most of Rambo's time, even in the off-season, is spent getting his body ready for the physical challenges of a 20-plus game football season.

With the help of a trainer in Dallas, Rambo does an extensive schedule that is focused on a treadmill. The machine moves to incline or decline to simulate football moves.

Rambo's workout regime is more on par with a full-time job. It starts Mondays with a full treadmill session, then upper-body lifting to complete the day.

Tuesdays feature agility drills and leg strength sessions. He takes Wednesdays off then it's a repeat of Monday and Tuesday the next two days.

He spends Saturdays on the field with a group of pro players getting ready for their respective seasons.

The system keeps him on a structured schedule that simulates the CFL season but allows him enough time to do some business. And the longer he plays, the easier it gets.

"It's built into me now," Rambo said. "I used to getting up and working out.

"When I was in college or first few years of pro, I didn't want to put in the time. Now, I've realized it's what I have to do. It's my job."

Even when he's in Calgary playing with the Stamps, his cousin is giving him updates on their properties and the business doesn't stop.

The duo kept two of the houses in Los Angeles to rent out and being an absentee landlord is a bit tough.

But most of the job is finding the right properties to invest in.

"My cousin calls me and emails me photos on houses and asks me if I want in to invest," Rambo said. "My cousin has been in it for a while. I don't have as much money as he does but he's trying to teach me the game."

CALGARY -- Jeremaine Copeland summed it up neatly early Wednesday afternoon, sitting at his stall in the receivers' corner of the Calgary Stampeders locker-room.

He'd been asked to sum up the recent performance of his neighbour to the left, Ken-Yon Rambo.

"Oh," replied Copeland, a smile spreading over his face. "You mean the all-star?"

Not yet, he's not, but if Rambo keeps hauling in footballs and scoring touchdowns at the same pace he's been doing it over the past four weeks, it's only a matter of time for the former Ohio State Buckeye.

To put it mildly, Rambo is hot. Red-hot, in fact -- 26 catches in his past six games, double his output in the first six (including one game as a healthy scratch), and an eye-popping six touchdowns in the past four games after coming up empty in his first eight.

The Calgary Stampeders signed receiver Ken-Yon Rambo to a multi-year contract extension on Tuesday. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
''There's no place I'd rather be,'' said Rambo. ''I love it here, I love where this organization is heading, I love the guys in this locker room and it was an easy decision to commit to the Stampeders.''

Ha! i actually saw a link for the rambo article and now i have been on TSN all afternoon looking at every cfl roster for former Buckeyes. And yes I am bored at work, lol. Anyways there are 5 Buckeyes currently on rosters in Canada....

Speedy receiver Rambo puts Stamp on new deal

Getting Ken-Yon Rambo under a long-term contract was simple math for the Calgary Stampeders, but it was more like geometry for the veteran receiver.
With fellow pass-catchers Jeremaine Copeland and Nik Lewis set in their places, Rambo is excited to keep his run going alongside the club's other big playmakers.
"It's a great triangle," said Rambo yesterday about the trio of imports. "Cope and Nik bring different aspects.
"Cope is a great route runner, has great hands and has some deceptive speed.
"Nik is a beast. We call him the pitbull. He's a monster with great hands. They both make great plays all the time. It feels good to be in that triangle with them."


And that would make Rambo the speed guy -- someone who can stretch a defence out.
The Ohio State product is coming off his best CFL season, one in which he was just 17 yards short of the magical 1,000-yard mark.
Rambo tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions (10), while posting the best average among Stamps receivers when it comes to completing the passes thrown in his direction.
Entering his fourth CFL campaign, the 30-year-old is taking on a different spot -- called the 'W' receiver on the outside -- but has jumped headfirst into the role.
"I've always been confident in myself," Rambo said. "Learning the routes in the CFL is much different than in the NFL. It was just me getting all the routes down. Once I got that down, I feel pretty good.

Eight catches, 136 yards and a touchdown -- all great numbers for Calgary Stampeders receiver Ken-Yon Rambo.

But walking out of McMahon Stadium late Thursday night after torching the B.C. Lions' secondary in the Stamps' 28-18 win, the only number Rambo cared about was two.

Fumbles, that is.

"I'm not thinking about the catches or the yards," Rambo said Friday. "I'm thinking about the negatives, so I'm trying to get better at holding on to the ball for the next game. It was real frustrating because I don't fumble a lot, and I don't like to fumble. It was real big [for the defence to get the ball back both times, not surrendering a point]."

The turnovers didn't escape the notice of Stamps head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. It was suggested to him Friday that Rambo had enjoyed a "heck of a game," and the boss agreed, but only to a point.

The Calgary Stampeders posted their most complete effort of the season on Thursday night and trounced the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 43-16 at McMahon Stadium.

Joffrey Reynolds gained 96 yards and scored three touchdowns on 11 carries, while Ken-Yon Rambo had six catches for 127 yards.

RAMBO: It's all coming together

Hello Stamps fans,

It?s #85 coming at you live. Well it?s Week 4 Stamps fans and we are starting to find a rhythm offensively.

The offensive line is starting to gel together and Joffrey is getting comfortable with the new scheme. Us wide receivers are getting in a rhythm with Hank, too. It?s all coming together. You can see what kind of team we have in spurts and it gives me chill bumps, brrrrrrrrr, when I think about it. All we need to do now is be consistent for four quarters. Start off fast and end fast.

As a team, we don?t want to peak too early, but you never want to peak too late. Execution is the key; game-by-game is the rule. Play until the fat lady sings, by all means. Stamps jump on the horse and enjoy the ride.

SETTING THE SCENE



No team in CFL history has had the league?s leading passer, receiver and rusher all in the same season but in 2008, the Stampeders have a chance to accomplish that milestone. Should all three stay healthy, the trio of QB Henry Burris, SB Ken-Yon Rambo and RB Joffrey Reynolds have a shot of ending up as CFL leaders in each of those categories.

Rambo caught six passes for 127 yards against Hamilton and increased his season totals to 26 catches for 386 yards and two TDs. Rambo leads the Stamps and sits in second place overall in the CFL.
