That is what Tucker said...that we have to get this kid (Lyons) on the field. Whittner is gone for the year and might play in the bowl game. Salley is banged up but Tucker said he was "servicable". Lyons will be there as a safety net for the nickle package as Purdue runs many recievers as does Michigan. We can't afford to slide Fox out of the boundry to safety when you consider the calibur of WR's that Purdue and Michigan have. The logical choice is to bump Lyons over as another possible safety who can help out in multiple db packages against passing teams!

Lyons might be the best match-up the Bucks have for PU's 6-9 receiver.

I have to say I have not heard many reports concerning Lyons this year. Anyone heard anything? It seemed like he got more press last year. The coaches must have seen something since he was not RS'd.

there's actually talk that the ankle seems to be fairly serious and that they may be pursuing a medical redshirt for Devon.

I hate hearing that. I was hoping to see him get major playing time. Maybe this explains some of Robiskie's advance to second team?

Its pretty much been decided that Lyons will pursue a medical redshirt for this year, his ankle will keep him out for the year.

for anyone who saw him play live or on film, how did he look at safety in HS?

lookign back at "recruiting rankings" he is listed as the #17 safety on scout and #5 safety on rivals.

I was looking forward to seeing him at wideout as well, but Hartline is drawing rave reviews in practice, and robiskie was already playing... so maybe he can be more useful at FS to backup Mitchell.

I was digging the idea of a 6-4, 215 WR on one side and a 6-3, Hartline on the other.
Lyons looked sick with the ball in his hands in the Big 33!

Well how about 6'8'' Chichester on one side. I think Devon could be more help at safety b/c of the fact that WR is loaded, but he was getting good reports from practice. Suprising to see this move now tho.
