Maybe the Browns can draft him and continue their proud tradition set by "Metcalf up the middle". "Wells up the Middle" in '09!!!

Yeah I'd say just making an NFL team would be a huge accomplishment for Maurice, then we can talk about being a #2 back someday.

Sure. Give him a decent line behind which he can run, then he could be a decent #2 back, carrying the ball 8-10 times a game to spell the starting RB.

Plus the added dimension of catching balls out of the backfield.

I think people cut the RB's too much slack for the poor line play. Obviously, there were plenty of times when Maurice met a d-lineman just after taking a hand-off. But there were also many frustrating plays where he just didn't have the vision to bounce a play outside. See his carry in this Fiesta bowl where (I think) he should have seen there was no hole in front of him but he had space towards the sideline to work. Maurice never seemed to improvise if his hole was closed (which it always seemed to be).

I think he can at least make a practice squad where he can work on a specialized role. But, with such tunnel-vision in college I can't see him making it work in the NFL. Hope I'm wrong.

There is, as yet, no news on running back Maurice Wells.

NFL teams don't load up on undrafted first-year free agents like they used to, primarily because of the glut of experienced free agents on the market in recent years.

Maurice Wells, a former Ohio State backup running back, will get a tryout with the Buffalo Bills this weekend.

I could actually see him making the Bills roster. He always had great hands and word on the street the Bills are going back to the no huddle offense. With Marshawn out for the first 3 games and Freddie Jackson unhappy with his contract, I could see them signing him up.

Outside chance I suppose. Don't forget the Bills signed Dominick Rhodes and they also have Xavier Oman who they drafted last year and he got on the field a couple times last year.

Rookie Camp Practice Notes: Day 3

Some of the tryout players that performed well were running back Maurice Wells, strong safety Tyrrell Herbert, linebacker Solomon Elimimian, long snapper Garrison Sanborn and wide receivers De?Cody Fagg, Alonzo Phillips and Dominique Thompson.



Its nice to see Maurice Wells made an impression with like 30 guys at the try outs this weekend.
