Maybe the problems he has had are 100% due to his injury. If that is the case, his injury must be very inhibiting, and I have to wonder why the coaches played him in those weeks following the injury. I know the cb depth chart is thin, but playing a corner with severe hip flexor limitations in single coverage is asking for trouble. That's why to me it appears more than his injury, he's run into technique issues that the coaches have been hoping get worked out. In any case, I hope whatever his problem is passes and that he gets back to being 1st round material. In my mind he isn't close right now.

Ever had a hip pointer? If you have, you understand. Look at pre-injury performance compared to post-injury.

Think of a miss/skip in a car engine when accelerating...with terrible pain. It limits explosive movement. He played because he was the best option...

He will show out in the Fiesta. Mark it down.

Hip pointer are a bitch. They hurt when you sneeze. I had to shut it down for about a month because of a severe hip pointer.

i dont thinkit would be nuts if ashton stayed another year. he had a solid year but even i am not sold on him being an outstanding NFL db yet and im sure the NFL scouts want him but i think if he stayed another year and improved on everything he could see a solid 2nd round pick or potentially even 1st and get an even bigger signing bonus. i just think there is still some room for improvement for him. but if he needs the money then i suppose he can go to the next level.

Article about Youboty's decision to go pro or not. Sounds like draft position is a key factor and right now pro scouts seem to think he needs a little work on technique.

Youboty had an outstanding sophomore season, capped by a great performance in the Michigan game in which he held up well against Wolverine star receiver Braylon Edwards. This season, however, Youboty has had some moments that were not so memorable, depending on your point of view. He had some coverage problems at Minnesota and in the Texas game as well.

NFL scouts to whom we have spoken evaluate Youboty as a "cheater", not meaning that he breaks the rules, but meaning that he cheats one way or another on certain plays to try to gain leverage. He got away with it in 2004, but it cost him some in 2005 when the opposition had better scouting on him and could take advantage of his technique. That experience seems to have been somewhat of a reality check for Youboty.

"The one thing I've learned is that there's always room to improve. Even when you think you're good enough, the receivers learn a new release to get by you. There's always room to improve," he said.

Youboty will likely use the draft evaluation heavily to make his decision. Chances are that he would be drafted fairly high, but that he would be able to improve his draft stock considerably with one more year of college ball to prove that he doesn't have to "cheat" in coverages. We think there is a better chance that Youboty will be back at OSU next season rather than in the NFL, but ultimately his draft evaluation will determine that decision.

I think Youboty has shown great ability but he has had lapses and the injury hasn't helped. We will have to see what happens I guess....
