Are either O'neil or Jenkins suited for CB. I've heard O'neil is better suited for safty as well as Jenkins.

I think the jury is still out on O'Neal but his struggles against Manningham are well documented. There is no telling where he'll end up after Mel Tucker gets his hands on him.
Jenkins is a corner. He got an offer after every camp he attended and Tucker worked with him at corner at camp and he came away with an offer. With Youboty and Underwood coming back we should be ok but we certainly need some young guys to step up and provide some depth. Maybe Teddy moves over at some point? |

Salley needs to worry more about tackling and less about his Jack Tatum impression. His tackling is second only to Anthony Dorsetts (Raider fans know what I'm talking about) as the worst I've seen. Just like in golf, if you don't hit your tee shot past the womens tee you have to play with your 'junk' out for the rest of the hole, Salley should have to after getting abused by the qb on that td run.
At this point, any change would appear to be a step in the right direction. Hopefully this motivates some to play like there's no tomorrow because if we lose to the Hoosiers, there will be no football tomorrow after that. |

i would say oneal will end up at either reciever, safety, or growing into a tweener type linebacker. he has corner athleticism for sure but doesn't play the position as well as an athlete like him could (though i haven't seen him play corner since mansfield days). very similar measureables to a cie grant in high school with lots of hype piled on deservedly so.
i think part of oneals problem this year is between the ears. coach ginn was constantly reminding him about what he needs to be doing on the field in a very public and aggressive manner on the sideline when i saw him. maybe jamario is having trouble picking up the glenville system still or having trouble adjusting to corner for the first time since tenth grade. who knows. i thought both underwood and youboty would be great this year after the spring game but that isn't happening on the field. ej looked like a good tackler that game too even. without fox though you could see the difference in our defense. we do seem to have a glut of safety types right now. should be a positive for our special teams though. safeties cover kicks like crazy. edit: Quote:

I really hope we get in on at least one super blue chip PURE CB this late in the game. What was wrong with Brandon Harrison, too short? Last edited by JCOSU86; 10-20-2004 at 04:30 PM. Reason: The [/QUOTE] was missing |

I actually think that E.J.'s coverage is better technique wise but Ashton is a playmaker. Always in the right place and plays less tenitive.
Could this however be a means to get E.J. on the boundry ?I mean it is kinda wierd for Ashton and E.J. to switch positions completely. Why wouldn't they just have E.J. backup Ashton ? Switching positions right now is a little wierd to me ? |

I was thinking the same thing, ant. I'm thinking Youbouty is playing better right now, but Tressel still has high hopes for EJ playing the boundry next year.

CB Ashton Youboty (official thread)
Ashton seems to be coming into his own. An interception and three key breakups. I thought the pass interference call was bad and that he made a good play. It's good to see him playing well.

The replayed showed his hand was clearly on the receiver for the pass interference.
He looked good in man-to-man coverage - I'll be curious to see if he can handle Purdue's receivers. |

Not to be overly critical, but........ had he cut back towards the middle instead of going to the sidelines, he may have taken his pick to the house. He had several blockers leading the way. I'm so demanding.

I have been really impressed with him. I did not think there was anyway he would be starting my his true sophomore year... Good for him and keep it up
