The only thing I heard about this was that sentence in the CFN article. I also think it seems weird that no other sources, particularly those that follow the Bucks closely here in Columbus have said anything.
Bingo. No way CFN knows about this and BN, BSB, Channel 6, 1460, etc. are in the dark.

As Grad and others have pointed out, safety is a NFL low priority. It takes a very special player to go in the early rounds. Witner, for all his skills, is small and short for an NFL safety. He stays.

JamO, from what I can tell, is not close to taking Witner's place. I don't know, who could?

Who will take Salley's spot?
Welch? I'm not sold on Mitchell. He misses too many tackles.

The FS is the QB of the defense. With a full year of "mental" development, JamO will be ready imo. That year will add the confidence needed to see the kid at full speed.

I look for Dante to have a big game tomm from his safety position against scUM. I think he will be up in run support alot of the game.

I frigging hate OSU right now. And, yes, most of it has to do with two things--your more recent national title and the fact that you\'ve won 3 of the last 4 vs. Michigan. -TDFever 3/17/05

Whitner may be ready to go, I wish for him to make the best decision possible for himself, if that means going pro, then good luck kid, i'll sure as hell be rooting for you in the league.

Youbouty on the other hand would be insane to leave. In a few games this year he has been very, ummm..... suspect against the pass, his run coverage is great, but how he played against Ellerson, Wheelwright, Avant, and a few others means he should stay for his senior year...

Donte was one of the kids that we helped last week work on his interview skills. He's a great kid.
Others on that list, AJ Hawk, Bobby Carpenter, Marcus Green, he was the only underclassmen.

Boxcar,
What about Holmes? He's not an underclassman, but still has a year of eligibility.

He wasn't one we worked with. Don't know if that means squat or not

OHIO STATE INSIDER

Safety Whitner won't be cornered on NFL

Saturday, December 10, 2005 Doug Lesmerises

Plain Dealer Reporter
Columbus- Ohio State junior strong safety Donte Whitner is still weighing his NFL options, having submitted paperwork to the league that will give him an idea on where pro experts think he might be picked.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel encourages players who won't be first-round picks to stay in school. Whitner said if it's suggested that he might be a second- or third-round pick, he'd have to sit down with Tressel and talk. He expects to hear from the league next week.
"I'm not leaning either way," said Whitner, a Glenville High grad. "If it comes back and it's not what I like, I'm coming back."
Ohio State will already lose seven senior defensive starters, and a returning Whitner would probably be the best Buckeye on that side of the ball.
"If I come back, there's a possibility of being a captain, of winning a national championship, of probably having a chance to win some major [individual] awards," Whitner said. "I have to look at both sides of it."
Injury update:
Linebacker Bobby Carpenter was walking with a slight limp on the sideline during Friday's indoor practice, his right ankle taped but not in a cast or boot.
Sidelined with a broken right fibula, Carpenter is not practicing, and though he wants to play, his Fiesta Bowl status will still be determined in the final days before the game.
Tight end Ryan Hamby and fullback Brandon Schnittker, sidelined the second half of the season, are both possibilities for the Fiesta Bowl, though Hamby is closer to playing.
Also:
The team held its second bowl practice Friday. The players will practice eight more times before Christmas, none after Dec. 20, and then leave for Tempe, Ariz. on Dec. 26. . . . Ted Ginn Jr. will run outdoor track in the spring after skipping the sport to focus on football last year.
