As far as JamO goes, I'm not banking on a true freshman earning a starting corner spot. At least not early in the year. Think about it, Ginn didn't see much playing time at all (let alone starting) until mid season. So on that note, I agree that midseason is the earliest we'll see a lot of O'Neal.

I said let it be because I feel that we beat the same dead horse over and over sometimes. Yes Fox is one hell of an athlete, but he has graduated. Yes we will certainly miss him, he was way undervalued by most OSU fans. But the truth to the matter is we have some fantastic guys coming, we should be able to reload.

You said he was a good player and dependable. Maybe it's just me, but I describe "playmakers" with less mundane words and phrases. As for the second question, did you not see the N.C. State game? Whitner's interception turned the tide of that game, at least until we made some mistakes late in the second half.

Youboty thinks there's a good chance Welch could be starting at corner. He is athletic enough to stay with teddy in coverage, which is quite a feat!

That would be awsome. We know Welch can hit and tackle from his gunner work but stay up with Teddy in coverage. I'll have to see it to believe it. It seemed like he had a rough day at the Big 33 game. Good to know we have options.

Youboty was the one saying Welch could stick with Ginn in coverage, btw, just to clarify. He said last year he had talent but was very rough around the edges... but is really developing into a solid player. Maybe we won't need JamO as soon as we thought

It's obviously too early to tell for sure - may be able to determine more after the spring game and practices - but from what i have seen so far i would rather see Sirjo at corner than Whitner.

Even though Whitner is the harder hitter, Sirjo is the surer tackler. And last year Whitner had way too many blown coverages when we were in zone - e.g. the 4th and forever TD NC St had was a blown coverage by Whitner. the deep ball that Fox got beat by Edwards on in the scUM game was a blown coverage by one of the safeties as well - Fox was playing the short zone and nobody came over to cover the deep zone.

But I agree, that whoever we have at corner will be fine. it's a great problem to have - having so many good DBs that it's hard to find a way to get them all on the field I just see Donte having more tendency to make EJ type mistakes in coverage than Sirjo, at least right now.

I'm not sure where I would rank Fox in all OSU corners, but I can tell you that I had to wring out my wife's panties every time she saw a picture of him

Fact is, Fox was a very solid player at the very least. Started for 3 years and gave up very few big plays. He had a couple bad games so what? Ive been fustrated with most OSU players at one time or another.

Guess this is all a moot point now. Dispatch reports today that Whitner is going back to safety & Everett is getting a shot at cb when he's healthy again

That was the plan all along. But they had to be ready if Everett wasn't able to play corner in the fall due to either not being 100% or reinjuring it...

How good is Everretts speed? Dont get me wrong I love Ty and am happy as hell hes on our side, I was just wondering how good his hip movement and straightline speed were to defend?

If he is getting work at CB, I would bet his hips are as good as the young CB's...with as much Cover 2 as we play, he has that part down after covering deep half from his SS position.

We do have much talent, but we have no depth.
We are an injury or two away from really being in some hot water at the corner.
I think you see lots of Jamo this year.
