The Buckeyes take on the University of Detroit Titans at Bill Davis Stadium tonight. Should be great weather. I'm going to try and make it.

Here's what I got about them. 10-30 isn't lights-out

With all the momentum achieved from their weekend split at UW-Milwaukee, the Titans (10-30 overall) came into their cross-town tilt with Wayne State (23-26 overall) on Tuesday afternoon (May 4) looking for big things. Unfortunately for Detroit, the Warriors would have none of it as they pounded the Red, White and Blue for 21 hits in a 16-12 victory at the James K. Campbell Complex.

Freshman Daniel Dobberowsky (St. Clair Shores, MI/Lakeview) earned the start for the Titans, but was saddled with the loss (2-2) after allowing six runs on eight hits in 2.2 innings of work. Frank DiCristofaro worked one frame in relief for the Warriors and was credited with the victory to up his mark to 2-0.

Senior Charlie Anderson (Dearborn, MI/Edsel Ford), the current Horizon League Player of the Week, sparked the Detroit offense as he went 3-for-6 with four RBI's and two runs scored. He added his team-leading 10th home run of the year in the third. Tim Baywal led WSU at the dish as he went 4-for-6 with three RBI's and three runs scored.

The Titans will have little time to reflect on the setback as the squad travels to Columbus, OH, for a contest at Ohio State on Wednesday (May 5). Starting time for the Cinco De Mayo tilt at Bill Davis Stadium is 6:35 p.m.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State stormed out to a 9-0 lead before giving up four runs in the top of the ninth inning to get by Detroit 9-4 Wednesday night at Bill Davis Stadium and improve to 25-17 heading into this weekend's crucial Big Ten home series against Penn State.

The Buckeyes struck first, crossing two batters in the bottom of the third inning on a single by designated hitter Cody Caughenbaugh (So., Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley). Jacob Howell (Fr., Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) delivered a one-out single through the right side before Detroit starter Tim Polley walked Steve Caravati (Jr., Dover, Ohio/Dover) to put runners at the corners for Caughenbaugh, who delivered his fifth double of the season and 12th and 13th RBI.

Mike Rabin (Jr., West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) led off the fourth with a double to left-center field, moved to third on a fly out and then scored on a double by Drew Anderson (Jr., Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg). It was Anderson's team-leading 15th double of the season.

Ohio State plated three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead. Jedidiah Stephen (So., Caldwell, Ohio/Shenandoah) led off the inning with a single through the left side and moved to second on Polley's first wild pitch of the season. Stephen got to third when a fly ball off the bat of Caughenbaugh went off the glove of Titan leftfielder Todd Kalmbach. The fast-moving Buckeye DH was able to reach second. Polley walked Brett Garrard (Sr., Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) to end his day.

The Titans went with reliever Bob Lothian, who gave up a sacrifice fly by Paul Farinacci (Jr., Westlake Village, Calif./Agoura) that scored Stephen before getting a ground out for the second out of the inning.

OSU Baseball is now tied for first with Penn State. Penn State travels here for a weekend series beginning Saturday at 1:05. A double header will be played on Sunday at 1:05 and a night game on Monday at 6:35. It's going to be a gorgeous weekend so come on out and support the Bucks!
