Mods I searched and didnt see a thread that was strictly for big 10 (non osu) baseball news so i decided to start one. please merge if necessary.

Big Ten Announces Public Reprimand of Indiana Baseball Team and Suspension of Head Coach

The Big Ten Conference office announced today that the Indiana baseball team has been publicly reprimanded and head coach Tracy Smith has received a two-game suspension for violating the Big Ten Sportslike Conduct Agreement during a non-conference game against Fresno State on March 12.

In accordance with penalties established in Big Ten Conference Agreement 10.01.1.A.2, the Big Ten publicly reprimands the Indiana baseball team and suspends the head coach for their actions during an argument between Smith and Fresno State head coach Mike Batesole, which led to both teams leaving their respective dugouts. Smith will be suspended for the Hoosiers next two games against IPFW on Saturday, March 22, and Sunday, March 23......

The 2008 Big Ten Conference baseball season opens on Friday with all 10 of the conference's squads in action. Illinois travels to Michigan State, Indiana heads to Minnesota, Iowa plays at Michigan, Northwestern faces Purdue, and Ohio State hosts Penn State, all in four-game series.

Haveman earns the first weekly honor of the conference season after leading Purdue to a 4-1 record last week, including a 3-1 series win over Northwestern. In Big Ten play, the junior went 8-for-16 (.500) at the plate and reached base at a .556 average, drawing a pair of walks to accompany his eight hits.....
