The Buckeyes are currently ranked #16 by the collegiate Baseball poll, 25th by USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll and 28th by the College Baseball Writers Association of America (NCBWA). This is bound to go up after last night's tremendous win vs Miami.

Wimmers has thrown over 200 pitches since Friday. I cant imagine he will be available this weekend, but Todd has thrown a pitcher or two under the bus before. Jake Hale threw over 230 in a week back in '07 and Josh Newman threw over 300 pitches in a 7 day stretch back in '03.
PSU has better starting pitching than us, and without Wimmers we are primed for a let down, imo. Two of three would be huge for us. |

I can't believe that you said that about Coach Todd
It will be interesting to see how the Buckeyes perform when they started to play the other northern teams. They did quite well down south and I don't know how the other Big 10 teams did during their southern tours. I never thought that PSU was very good in baseball but I guess we shall see this weekend. |

#16 OSU victorious
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - A five-run fifth inning erased a 2-0 deficit and carried No. 16 Ohio State to an 8-3 win over Penn State Friday in the Big Ten Conference opener for both schools. The win improved Ohio State?s record to 19-3 and Penn State, which had won six consecutive games, drops to 13-9 on the year. Sophomore Dean Wolosiansky allowed just five hits and two runs through 7.0 innings to improve to 4-1 on the season. Wolosiansky walked two and struck out six before giving way to Drew Rucinski in the eighth inning. Continued... |

Beating Macy in game 1 was huge for us. I feel very good about our chances of winning this series now!
Kudos to the Bucks hitters for being very patient. Walks have hurt Macy this year. . And props to Deano for picking a great time to have his best outing of the season. Best vs Kelley today, with Armstrong likely going on Sunday. I dont want to see Wimmers again until Friday vs Minnie, but there is still a chance Alex goes on Sunday..especially if we lose today.. This weeks midweek games will be interesting. Our lack of pitching depth will show up big time..Minium, Oltorik and Strayer need to step it up. |

PSU walks in a run, 8-2 OSU. Still nobody out.
New pitcher for PSU, same result...another walk. 9-2 Bucks, nobody out. OSU outhitting PSU 16-6. PSU finally gets an out on a pop up. Bases still loaded. Another pop up, 2 outs and bases still loaded. Error on PSU SS allows two runs to score, 11-2 OSU. Third PSU error of the game, OSU has one. Justin Miller RBI single, 12-2 OSU. Inning finally ends, Bucks score 8 in the final two innings. PSU goes 1,2,3 in the 9th. OSU wins 12-2. Last edited by Buckeye Nut; 03-28-2009 at 04:48 PM. |

WOW!! Great job today by the Bucks! I like how patient we are at the plate all of a sudden.
I think Wimmers is going to go on Sunday, so Armstrong will probably pitch vs Xaxier on Tuesday. Cant say enough about Eric Best. He and Dean have been outstanding this weekend. Matt Streng aint bad for a guy who wasnt expected to play much! He and Zach Hurley have been the two biggest surprises for me. imo, Penn State is pretty good, and will make the B10 tourney. I'm really pleased that we have been able to go to their place and take care of business. |
