Just that after the run we had in the 90's, Smoke Laval's tenure was painful to stomach. Felt like we'd never ake it back to where we were.

He was handed the keys to the best college baseball program in the country, and he gave back a bucket full of raw sewage deposited by Charlie Weis after an all night binge at a chinese buffet.

No problem. I still remember Warren Morris's walk-off HR in '96. That was the biggest HR ever hit in college, and nobody in MLB has ever hit such a clutch HR. I didn't remember that because of a broken wrist, it was his first HR of the season.

Not only was it a walk-off CWS winner, but if he had made an out, LSU would have lost the CWS title. Nobody in the major leagues has ever hit a World Series HR in the same situation (it would have to be in Game 7 with two outs in the 9th inning or later, and trailing on the scoreboard). The homers by Bobby Thompson, Bill Mazerowski, and Joe Carter would not have lost the World Series if they had been caught in the outfield.

To me there's a huge difference between a walk-off HR in a tie game, or when there's less than 2 outs, and a walk-off HR where an out means it's all over. And that difference is rarely acknowledged.

Morris's HR is not as legendary as it deserves to be.

Nationally, it's nowhere near as legendary as it should be.
In Louisiana, Warren Morris will never have to pay for his own meals as long as he lives.

I was so happy it was the shorthorns. Gators made the 2005 final, but essentially over-achieved and did not have the pitching to compete with Texas that year.
