Considered the #3 ranked player in the 2007 Ohio class and is ranked the 47th overall nationally by Scouthoops.com. tOSU is very interested in Dallas. A native of Solon, Ohio, Lauderdale led the Solon Comets to a 20-0 regular season record and Western Reserve Conference North Division championship averaging 17.9 points a game and 13.0 rebounds a game, while blocking near five shots per game (As a Sophmore). Roy Williams has said for his age he has never seen anyone "as long" as him, meaning he has tremendous wing span and reach which enables him to seem like 7-1. A very good defensive player.

Ohio State, Michigan, Syracuse, Arizona, Wake Forest, Connecticut, Florida, North Carolina, and N.C. State have been showing a ton of interest.

He was taller than out teachers in 5th grade...

His dad went to OSU. He likes Matta...

He has more potential than anyone in Ohio outside of Mayo and is the #1 player in his class. He has a chance to jump to pros but will most likely go to college and OSU is high on his list.

actually, coos, he's number three behind Mayo and Walker. Some like Walker better than Mayo. Keenan Ellis would be considered an Ohioan now. Dante Jackson does it all...basically, class of 07 is stacked.

Would love to see Dallas come to Columbus with any of those guys. We already are lined up in 08 with Mullens, so our front line would be tight with this long-limbed leaper.

Ranked as the #3 player in the state of Ohio for 2007. He helped lead his high school team, the Solon Comets, to an undefeated regular season. A great defensive player and is improving his offensive game.

With his athleticism and wingspan, if he grows a few more inches, he will have offers from everyone in the country.

...and supposedly was very excited about the game.

I would love to have Mayo, Walker, Ellis, Pogue, etc. But if we get Cook and a PG next year, be it Conley, Augustin, or whoever, then Lauderdale and Herb Pope are going to be huge targets for Matta in the '07 class. Both Pope and Dallas are around 6-9 with room to grow. It would be the first time I can rememebr having two athletic players with that kind of size since Treg Lee and Perry Carter.

BOYS DIVISION 1 REGIONAL FINALS

3/11/05

Quote:
Lauderdale, Comets soar in win; Eagles fall to Tygers

Mike Peticca
Plain Dealer Reporter

Toledo- Solon's happy Comets must have laid 10 hearty chest bumps on Dallas Lauderdale just after the final buzzer sounded.

They knew that, as always, their big man had come to play.

"Dallas makes up for a lot of mistakes," Solon forward Billy Grant said after Lauderdale's dominating performance led the Comets to a 54-50 victory over Toledo Scott in a regional semifinal game on Thursday night. "The team does a lot of good things, too, but if you get the ball to Dallas, it's a guarantee. And, there's his rebounding and defense."

Solon (25-0), The Plain Dealer poll champion, will play Mansfield Senior (23-1) for the Division I regional championship on Saturday night. Mansfield Senior defeated St. Edward, 76-55, in the second game of Thursday night's doubleheader at the University of Toledo's Savage Hall.

Lauderdale, a 6-9 center and one of the nation's premier sophomores, scored 24 points on 10 of 11 shooting in front of a crowd of 3,288. He grabbed 11 rebounds, blocked seven shots and altered numerous others. Lauderdale and his teammates made all the big plays with the game on the line, outscoring the Bulldogs, 9-0, in the final 2:51.

Grant, who scored 11 points, began the Comets' comeback with two free throws. Guard Pat Hewitt followed with a steal and layup, cutting the Toledo Scott lead to 50-49.

Hewitt then grabbed the rebound of a missed Bulldogs shot and fed the ball to guard Jordan Krantz near midcourt. Krantz, off the dribble, made a perfect alley-oop pass from the top of the key to Lauderdale, who was sprinting along the left baseline. Lauderdale fielded the basketball above the rim and threw down a two-handed dunk for a 51-50 Solon lead with 1:05 to go.

Lauderdale then blocked a shot, leading to a Grant layup with 29 seconds left. Scott (19-5) missed what would have been a game-tying, 3-point shot. Lauderdale controlled the rebound, was fouled and closed the scoring with a free throw.

"We know how to pull out games at the end," Lauderdale said. "It's not just one individual. We all make defensive stops. We all score points."

Solon won despite committing 27 turnovers and shooting 2-of-13 from 3-point range and 12-of-21 at the foul line.

"Sometimes as coaches we just shake our heads and wonder," Solon coach Todd Van Reeth said of his team's clutch play. "It says a lot about their character."

Mansfield Senior 76, St. Edward 55

The Tygers used a 13-0 run to build a 30-14 lead late in the second quarter in front of a second-game crowd of 2,426.

Jumping Jon Avery (29 points), a 6-5 center, and jump-shooting guard Rashad Reed (22 points) led Mansfield Senior. The Tygers bothered the Eagles (16-7) with a zone press and an aggressive, man-to-man halfcourt defense. Forward Kyle Hubbard and center Delvon Roe scored 10 and nine points, respectively, for St. Edward.

"I don't think we met our expectations, but I don't think a lot of people expected us to get this far with a young team," St. Edward coach Eric Flannery said. "We ran into a very good team, a team that's now won 23 straight games."

-- The season for So lon and Mansfield Senior would come down to what would happen when Derrick Boyd's high, high-arcing shot finally came down.

The shot gave Mansfield Senior a 53-52 victory over Solon in a Division I regional championship game on Saturday night at the University of Toledo.
"It came down to a kid making a great shot," Solon coach Todd Van Reeth said. "You can't be much closer than we were when he hit that shot. The kid just made a great shot."

Solon, The Plain Dealer poll champion, took a 25-0 record into the game.

The Comets, ranked fourth in the state, shot 58 percent and outrebounded eighth-ranked Mansfield Senior, 32-21, in front of 3,245 fans in Savage Hall.

The Tygers, though, overcame a 12-point, third-quarter deficit, and used their full-court pressure defense to force 21 Solon turnovers.

Mansfield Senior (24-1) will play Canton McKinley, a 64-48 winner Saturday over Hudson, in a state semifinal game on Friday at Ohio State University's Value City Arena.

Solon split two free throws with 14.7 seconds left for a 52-50 lead. Then, with the Comets playing stout defense, Boyd had to settle for the difficult shot which won the game. He made it despite being fouled, then missed the free throw.

"I knew they were coming at me fast, so I had to put a little arc on it," said Boyd, a 5-11 senior. "I saw it go through the net. [I thought], Wow, a big shot!' It was great, the greatest feeling in the world."

Senior guard Jordan Krantz scored 14 points for Solon and 6-9 sophomore center Dallas Lauderdale had 11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Junior point guard Steve Valentino totaled 10 points and five assists and junior guard Pat Hewitt hit three 3-pointers for his nine points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Mansfield Senior is scoring 71 points a game, but Solon played superb man-to-man defense to build a 35-23 lead midway through the third quarter. The Tygers rallied to within 41-39 before Valentino and Krantz split the points in an 8-0 run that built the Solon lead back to 49-39 with four minutes to go. Boyd, though, hit a 3-pointer and his teammate, guard Rashad Reed (16 points) made a four-point play as he hit a 3-pointer, was fouled and made the free throw to cut the Solon lead to 51-50 with 57 seconds left.

"Obviously, this hurts very much," Van Reeth said. "Our kids are hurting now. When we started the season 26 games ago, they said they wanted to be able to look each other in the eyes and be able to say that they gave everything they had. They did that."
6-9 sophomore center Dallas Lauderdale had 11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots in the loss.

Kid's gonna be amazing. I hope the collective bargaining agreement with the NBA goes through and all this Ohio talent has to go to college. You would figure that at least some of them would pick the Buckeyes.
