HH stands for HelpingHand who is a very respected poster on Bucknuts and sometimes on BP.

Did he post this info somewhere or was this through word of mouth?

he posted it over on BN. He is an OSU insider, so he would have a good feel for what might be happening. This is not that surprising, as jotis stated, I was just passing along his thoughts on the matter.

I have been trying to not vent my spleen toward O'Brien, but I find it is no longer possible.
It is just so sad that we all thought so highly of O'Brien, in great part because of the ethics he wore on his sleeve, and that he took advantage of our trust the way he did.
How very odd that O'Brien pretends that he is the one who will determine if he returns to coaching, due to what he has learned about college sports since being fired. Which top tier program would hire him knowing what we all know now?
The very fact that he believes he ran "a very, very clean" program, when he very well knew about the Salyers lawsuit and made this payment to a potential player (no matter what he says, he was still hopeful to reverse the NCAA ruling and this was a potential player), tells us a lot about O'Brien the man and his values and a lot about why no respectable program will ever want him again.
I can't work out what hurts O'Brien more, the train wreck that his coaching had become or the success that Matta shows is possible for a good coach at Ohio State.
Thanks Obie, if you hadn't been such a putz we would never have had Matta.

At times I have felt the same way.
