do you think hed transfer to a different school? other than say an oak hill?
|
I seriously doubt Diebler will transfer next year. I look for him to stay put and go after the scoring record. He has already signed with his dream school, has a state championship, and is coached by his dad. What would be better then breaking the record? (Besides maybe another championship.)
If he does transfer it could be Oak Hill or possibly even a Toledo School. (There has been several rumblings about him and his dad transfering to a Toledo School for the last couple of years.) I question him transferring to Oak Hill largely based on him being so close to the scoring record. If he transfers to Oak Hill, Ohio's scoring record will remain with Burson or go to Mayo.
Like I said, I look for him to stay at Upper. I also look for a couple of quality basketball players to possibly transfer in to give him a better supporting cast next year. (This is all speculation, I have been wrong before, he could transfer.)

I am originally from this area and there are consistent rumors that his Dad is looking around.......FWIW.

do any of the toledo catholic $chools have what it takes to lure dad away?
i really have a hard time thinking he shouldnt transfer to a high caliber team with essentially a college coach, for fundamentals and what not, and for elite game comp.

Every year there is consistent rumors about Diebler looking around. Even when Diebler has a good team he is looking for something better. A good example of this would be last year. Several rumors surfaced he was after the Ottawa Glandorf job after Sweet left. Of course, it never happened, and Upper Sandusky went on to a state championship. I believe he coached in the Toledo area before he coached at Fostoria. The youngest Diebler played for Gibsonburg, so I know they were somewhere near Toledo at the time. (BTW, the oldest Diebler was a pretty good basketball player himself. He averaged around 40 points his senior year, and was named D4 POY if I remember correctly.)
Sorry for getting off topic, back to Jon Diebler.

Any updates on Diebler's performances as of late?
Is his team still in the playoffs?

Diebler is playing well, I will be going on the road tonight to Mansfield to watch Diebler and Upper Sandusky in the sectional title game.

Mr. Basketball Candidates
Now that the regular season is in the books, debate will begin on who will walk away with Ohio's prestigious Mr. Basketball award, given to the top player in the state amongst all divisions.
This year, it seems as if anyone could walk away with the honor. Unlike some years past, there is no "Chosen One."
Could a player from Northeast Ohio take the honor this year? There are several players who definitely are in contention. Lets take a look at some of the possible candidates
Finally, a few votes could to Upper Sandusky's Jon Diebler. The 6-foot-5 junior is one of the top scorers in the state this year. He scored a whopping 77 points in a single game, the seventh-highest total in Ohio history. He followed up that performance with a 52-point outburst soon thereafter. The Ohio State commitment is averaging an astounding 39 points per game on the year.
