For once, I hope Dickie is correct. I want Jon to shoot the lights out this season.

Buckeyes' Diebler learns from '07 season
Thursday, November 13, 2008

COLUMBUS Jon Diebler took in as much as he could from Ohio State men's basketball Head Coach Thad Matta's suggested summer reading list.
Diebler liked Phil Jackson's philosophy of basketball so much in "Sacred Hoops," he read it twice. In "How to Play the Game," he learned how sports have affected different athletes.
"It's interesting to read the books on the lives of athletes and how they put things in perspective," Diebler said.
Any motivational stories Diebler sees in these books also are consumed. After his freshman season, a shot of confidence was badly needed.
Diebler came to the Buckeyes last year as the career scoring leader in Ohio high school basketball history. He poured in 3,208 points while playing for his father, Keith, at Upper Sandusky. He led the nation in scoring with an average of 41.2 points and was named Ohio's Mr. Basketball his senior year.
No one could foresee the big dropoff Diebler would have his first season in college. He shot 30.4 percent from the field, 28.9 percent from 3-point range and averaged 5.9 points in 21.1 minutes per game. He went from Ohio State's starting shooting guard to a backup very quickly.
Diebler said last season was a rude awakening for him.
"People tell you how the game's going to be, but you don't really know how it is until you experience it," Diebler said. "The little things like getting your feet set before the ball comes to you, getting your hands ready or staying low on your shot and not fading away.

I know there has been a lot of talk about the PG position or the big guys being the key to Ohio State's success this season but I think if Jon regains the shooting stroke that will help the Buckeyes tremendously.

I saw this kid in high school and I'm optimistic as hell that we're going to see what he really can do this year. He wouldn't be the first guy to struggle as a frosh then live up to the hype later.
