It was a D-II title which actually makes it a little more impressive. OJ Mayo and Cin. NCH won the D-III title this year. I have a hard time seeing this kid going to Valpo if he continues to progress and get attention from bigger schools.

TM is already looking at Diebler...and has been for some time. I hope we can snag him away from Valpo, where his brother is headed.

I have seen Diebler play and he is very, very dominating. He does a little of everything and he is a coach's son, so you know he knows the game, he will only get better, which is pretty scary since he is only a sophmore.
OSU is very interested in Diebler.

I've already posted about Jon on another thread, but since he has his own thread i'll post again. I have watched Jon play several times the last two years, the NOL (the conference he plays in) has several teams from my area. There are several rumors flying around that Jon and his father will be transferring to another school, Willard being a slight possibility. If Jon and his father do in fact stay at Upper Sandusky look for a couple of transfers to come in to fill out the starting 5. Rumors have it, that if he stays a 6'8 post from Kenton will be moving in.
Here's the story on his verbal to Valpo from several Upper fans: Jon's older brother Jake who was Co-d2 player of the year with Cook verballed to the Army at the beginning of his junior year. Although Jake is one hell of a basketball player, most d1 schools were not interested in him. After the verbal to Army most d1 schools recruiting him stopped. Before this season Jake went to take his physical for the Army. He failed it. With Jake's senior season close and no school really recruiting him because of the Army verbal, this kind of sent him into a scramble looking for another d1 school. Valpo came in at the last minute and offered as long as Jon would verbal with him. Jon, being the good brother, verballed so Jake could get the schollie. I am assuming as soon as Jake signs his LOI to Valpo, Jon will open his recruitment again.
One last interesting fact about the Diebler family, Jon's oldest brother (not sure of the name) played at Gibsonburg in the mid 90s I believe and was d4 player of the year averaging around 40 points per game.

If I was Valpo I would have been hard pressed to believe anything a member of the Diebler family would say. That is perhaps hard on Jon as his dad is mostly pulling the strings. He probably told Jon to verbal so his brother could get the scholarship. Many people in Fostoria (I am told) feel the father mislead the community. Right after Fostoria was upset in the state tourney last year, Diebler who was the coach stated that he was excited about the prospects for next year and would be in Fostoria a long time. Rumor has it that less than a month later Diebler the dad (I forget his first name) started shopping around for a team that he could take over that had great potential to go all the way. Enter Upper Sandusky and the rest is history.
It is disturbing that there is talk that Jon may transfer to Williard. I also heard St. John's is a possibility according to a radio report during the pregame before the state championship game.
At some point your word has to mean something and the talk of transferring in or out of a school system at the high school level in order to win championships I believe is wrong. Of course this a macrocosm of today's society of doing anything to win.
Valpo is wrong to expect Jon to verbal if they are going to take his brother. Either Jacob is good enough to play at Valpo or he is not. I believe he is and has the competitive fire necessary to compete at that level. Jon on the other hand is most assuredly a D-1 player. I know this deal making is done at other D-1 schools, but it doesn't make it right. My hope is that Jon goes to a school of his choice and goes on to progress as a basketball player and as an upstanding human being. Good Luck to you Jon.
