That would have been April, not March, but it is correct that Geiger knew for some time before firing O'Brien. This concerns me as well, not necessarily that Geiger did not fire him then (actually, he not only didn't fire him - he declined to accept his resignmation) but specifically what triggered the change in heart. It would certainly imply that something else has come up since then - but Geiger was also aware of the lawsuit.
Did Geiger discover something related to the lawsuit that might be factual? Is there something else we haven't heard about? That Geiger simply mulled it over and decided to fire O'Brien with nothing new on the table, and that he would do so without even talking to O'Brien about it simply doesn't make sense.
