I guess the suprise by most of Crater's ranking is how a prospect can go from a 5 star prospect to a 3 star in a matter of 2-3 AAU tournaments.

See post 224! No I have not seen him play in person but since you have seen him play 6-7 times I am sure you know more than the people who put him on the first team all-state team even though it was Class B.
We are all entitled to our own opinions but as Junkie stated above two people seeing him at the same time would have different opinions of his playing ability. That is even true with coaches. Why do certain players get offered by certain coaches and not offered by others?
I guess I just trust the people who put him on the first team a little more than your evaluation.

Thats why I mention his high school season. The national scouts don't get a chance to go out and see these kids play high school games. Often times, they go by what they are told by local coaches and local scouts. I *do* think his high school season is a reason.
It will be interesting to see where Telep has him. I bet he drops but not as far as Rivals. I agree that moving him out of the top 100 is pretty ridiculous.

From what I've seen of him, he's going to be the glue that sticks a talented team together. Based on what Ohio State has coming in for '07 and '08, they aren't going to need a Mike Conley Jr. (not that I'm ready to concede that Noopy isn't in his league just yet). They need the type of player that will be unselfish, get other players involved and hit the open jumper. With Offutt, Mullins, Buford and Babbit putting points on the board, the last thing this team needs is a me-first point guard. From that standpoint, Crater is top point guard on the board for Ohio State. Maybe Rivals and other services wouldn't like him as the 'anchor' for a class, but he's the perfect 'piece' for this class, and that's just about all that really matters.

And just curious Tez, Spartan or Wolverine? Because you stink of something bitter.

What PoY year did Noopy get? If he did win an award, it would probably be for the junior class, which Grady wasn't part of (he was a senior).

Kelvin Grady outplayed him in the head to head meeting. Don't get me wrong Crater is really good he is not 5 star status, but he is not a 3 star. More like a medium 4 star. The class of 08 in Mi does suck, but 09 is going to be huge.

Regardless of everyone's opinion of Crater and his weaknesses and strengths.....some people who most likely have more experience recognizing talent felt that Crater was worthy of an offer including Thad Matta, Lute Olsen, Billy Donovan, Bill Self and Tom Izzo just to name a few who I believe can be trusted when evaluating talent. End of discussion. 3 star or 5 star.....I will take him.
