Madsen was recently granted a release from Vanderbilt.
Named 2005 Ohio Capital Conference Player of the Year, averaging 16.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks for Dublin Coffman. Ranked the #1 center in Ohio as a senior. Madsen is an athletic post player who has great upside. He's a great scorer and shot blocker, but like many high school big men, he must get stronger to be an effective post player in college. Madsen is rated among the top post players in Ohio's 2005 class.

Vanderbilt redshirt freshman Kyle Madsen has decided to leave the men's basketball program.
Madsen, a 6-foot-10, 228-pound power forward, cited wanting to be closer to his hometown of Dublin, Oh., as the reason.
"Kyle was treated wonderfully at Vanderbilt," Madsen's father, Kyle, said. "It is a great school and Coach (Kevin) Stallings and his staff are great people. Kyle simply wanted to get closer to home. That's where the crux of his decision was made."
Madsen redshirted last season but did play 10 minutes against Northern State in an exhibition game on Nov. 5.
"We understand Kyle's desire to be closer to home," Stallings said. "He is an outstanding young man, and we wish him nothing but the best."
Vanderbilt has granted Madsen releases to Miami (Ohio), Ohio University, Dayton, Xavier, and Ohio State.
Madsen was rated as the best center in Ohio for the class of 2005 coming out of Dublin Coffman High School.
It's the second transfer for the Vanderbilt program since the end of last season. Sophomore DeMarre Carroll transferred to Missouri after two standout seasons with the Commodores.

I don't see him in tOSU's plans right now......he would be a good fit for Dayton.

According to someone close to the Dayton program, Kyle has indeed been offered by tOSU (from Kyle's own mouth). He will have a meeting with Dayton sometime this week and will decide where to transfer after that. He says that Dayton, tOSU, and Ohio U. are the only three places in contention.
