Yep, that's correct. That at least could be somewhat excused as a bad draw. Last year was a Marist team who was probably better than their seed.

This year was embarrassing. I've attended most of this season's women's games, and I turned off last night's game early. It wasn't so much the deficit as it was seeing things like missed threes come off for FSU, and not a single white jersey underneath the hoop. There just seemed to be no intensity, which to me is much worse than the loss itself.

I watched a little bit of it also but turned it off for the same reason that you did. I really don't know who to blame for these NCAA fiascoes... Foster or the players.

Tough to say when one looks at Foster's run at Vanderbilt. In 11 years his team reached the Sweet 16 or further 8 times. That said, players come and go yet the early exits continue in Columbus.

That's true, but I think he's trying to win with the same strategies that he won with then and it simply doesn't work anymore because the game has evolved. There's more good post players in the women's game than there used to be so it's more difficult to win by just having a great post player. Today's women's game is more about athleticsm and quickness and that's something we lack. I look at players from UNC, LSU and Tennessee and they play a lot more like men athletically than our players do, the best teams are the most athletic in the women's game.
I think Jim Foster did a great job for this program and was a great hire for us considering where our program was at the time. But I think he's taken it as far as he can and it's time for some new, younger blood to come in and take it to another level. I'm afraid if a change isn't made in the next few years that the program is going to start to regress and I'd rather we make the change while we're still at the top of the conference so that the new coach can start building us to a national power than trying to first get back to the top of the Big Ten.

Sleepy Buckeyes tucked in for good

Monday, March 24, 2008 Luke Meredith

Associated Press
Des Moines, Iowa- Ohio State is going home early yet again - and this time, it wasn't even close.
Tanae Davis-Cain scored 27 points, one shy of her career high, and Mara Freshour added 14 points and 12 rebounds to help 11th-seeded Florida State upset sixth-seeded Ohio State, 60-49, on Saturday night in the first round of the women's NCAA Tournament New Orleans Regional.
The Seminoles, a somewhat surprising at-large pick after losing seven of their last 11 games, sure looked as though they belonged against the listless Buckeyes. Florida State (19-13) extended its streak of first-round victories to six dating to 1991.
"It's a rule," Florida State coach Sue Semrau said of her team's first-round success. "I think it's our conference, the way our conference prepares us for this."
The Seminoles advanced to play third-seeded Oklahoma State tonight. The Cowgirls beat East Tennessee State, 85-73, on Saturday for their first NCAA Tournament win in 12 years.
This was the third straight NCAA Tournament trip that the Buckeyes (22-9) would just as soon forget. Ohio State lost in the second round to Boston College as a No. 1 seed in 2006 and was stunned by 13th-seeded Marist, 67-63, last season.
Ohio State held Florida State to just 32.8 percent from the field, but the Seminoles grabbed 19 offensive rebounds and went 9-of-16 from 3-point range.
