OSU women's basketball: Mason-Cox leaves team, plans transfer
Monday, April 14, 2008 2:54 AM
By Jim Massie
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Sophomore Lesslee Mason-Cox left the Ohio State women's basketball program yesterday and plans to transfer to another school. A highly touted prep forward from Cincinnati Princeton High School, Mason-Cox saw limited playing time in two seasons with the Buckeyes. Mason-Cox missed a majority of her freshman season with academic problems. She averaged 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 30 games this season.
"It was different things and not just about playing time," said Mason-Cox, whose father is former NBA star Mark Aguirre. "I just decided to try something different and to do what is best for me and to have fun."
Mason-Cox said she has not chosen a new school. She has two years of eligibility remaining

Women's basketball assistant resigns for family reasons
Wednesday, April 16, 2008 6:26 AM
Assistant coach Tamika Raymond announced that she is leaving the Ohio State women's basketball program after five seasons so that her husband can pursue a business opportunity in Irving, Texas.
"I thought I'd be at Ohio State for the next 30 years of my life," said Raymond, who joined the staff in 2003 and also is a forward for the WNBA's Connecticut Sun. "I learned so much from coach (Jim) Foster. He gave me an opportunity at 22 that nobody else would have given me."

At first, Tamika Raymond (then Williams) and her Minnesota Lynx teammates didn't know Ben Raymond's name. They called him Green Eyes.
Spotted around the Minneapolis social scene, Raymond was a favorite of the Lynx players, including Williams.
"He was 6-5 and a nice-looking guy," she said. "Toward the end of the season, he asked some of my teammates about me. That was a big move."

Women's basketball: Cincinnati native joins 2010 class
Friday, April 25, 2008 3:03 AM
By Jim Massie
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Brianna Sanders, a 5-foot-10 junior guard at Princeton High School in Cincinnati, yesterday became the first player to commit to the 2010 freshman class for Ohio State women's basketball coach Jim Foster. "She did commit," Princeton coach Jill Phillips said. "Ohio State has been watching her since her freshman year."
Sanders started for the Vikings as a freshman. She played in only 13 games this past season while recovering from surgery to repair a torn knee ligament. She averaged eight points per game.
