I didn't get to see either of them in person. To me, college is where I "get to know" the future pros. If they don't go to college, it's harder for me to care about their pro carreers at all. Weather I like them or hate them, I'm far more likely to follow if I know the player at all from college. That's one of my biggest problems with the NBA. For some reason, maybe 'cause it's always been that way, it doesn't matter in MLB to me.

Exactly, how bad was nba draft in year's past? You could barely recognize half the names being selected, now im honestly looking forward to the nba draft just as much as the nfl, ok well maybe not as much, but im still paying more attention to it than the NHL and MLB, i think all sports could be helped out by rules similar to this....i mean i personally love hockey but i hate the NHL and i think that college hockey has alot of potential to be relevant and exciting to watch and therefore increasing the professional game by building familiarity with the players, i know it would be almost impossible with all the foreign players and what not but still, i can dream...

This, really, was the point of David Stern's genius move. He recognizes the importance of college hoop to the fan, and has made sure that the college hoop fan has some reason to follow his collegiate stars (even the 1-year variety, as Greg Oden is likely to be) as they enter the League. This enhances the continuing success of the NBA; players will appreciate the importance of this move in increasing revenues in the future. It may have a short-term negative impact on guys like OJ Mayo, Bill Walker and DaeQuan Cook, but overall the impact on NBA player income is going to be very positive.

Oden, Durant are NBA lottery plums
BRIAN MAHONEY
Associated Press
NEW YORK - After all those losses - some of them suspected on purpose - there's finally a payoff. Two of the NBA's worst teams will be rewarded at the draft lottery Tuesday, winning the chance to choose Greg Oden or Kevin Durant.
Representatives from 14 teams will be in Secaucus, N.J., hoping they earn the right to select another Tim Duncan or LeBron James, players who went No. 1 in the draft and now have their teams deep into the postseason.

Portland wins the lottery and Oden/Durant both lose. Who would want to go to Portland? That sucks for Greg and Seattle's not much better. Wish he would have stayed one more year.

I hope the rumor of Sonics to Columbus comes true (if not already refuted) and The Blazers select Durant, keeping Oden in C-bus.
