You aren't disagreeing with me as much as you think you are. I agree that individually all those players are more talented defensively than the ones before. Its just that the parts haven't added up to sum yet.

Also Harris is greatly improved defensively from last year, so is Lewis to an extent. We lost Jekel and Sullinger, but we have Lighty and Conley, and if I had a gun to my head I think that I would take Conley and Lighty on the defensive end, too go along with Butler...
The only thing we really struggle with is perimeter defense, but that is due in part to some close outs and not defending the pick n' roll that well, but I think since Oden has gotten into better shape he is defending the pick n' roll better than early in the season...

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Brookhaven grad Jamelle Cornley is averaging 14.2 points and 7 rebounds for Penn State.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. ? Jamelle Cornley sat down before practice yesterday and without much hesitation ticked off the names of almost all 11 teams that beat him in four years of high school basketball.
If he could, he would click his heels and go to a place like that again. But he?s not at Brookhaven anymore.
"It?s probably one of the most frustrating things I?ve ever had to encounter," he said. "I was joking with somebody earlier that I don?t think I?ve ever lost anything nine times in a row, whether it be a video game, a shooting contest or whatever."
|
Well, Jamelle, shoulda stayed home. Here comes another ass-kicking. I'm a Brookhaven homer, but I ain't got no sympathy for you!

IMO it's way past time for the Bucks to beat the tar out of someone.

Nittwits ready for verbal wars this time around vs. OSU
By Jon Blau
Collegian Staff Writer
While the Penn State coaching staff researched hours of game tape for clues on how to shut down a popular choice for the No. 1 pick in next year's NBA draft, if he so chooses to declare, the Nittwits were scanning the Internet for dirt.

This team is not as relient on the outside shot as we were last year, but if we can hit our outside shots we are a very deadly team...
|
I have got to disagree with you here. I think when we play top-tier teams if we are not hitting our outside shots we are in trouble. Sure we have won games this year when we were it not hitting from the outside but those games were a lot closer than they should have been. I know a win is a win but sooner or later our outside shooting is going to do us in just like it did last year if it does not improve.
Last year, Dials put out about the same numbers and Oden is putting up this year. The only real difference is Conley getting points off of dribble penetration which we didn't have much of last year.
If we don't start hitting from the outside this season, we are going to be in trouble when the tournament rolls around.

See the thing is here, you get that with every team, if they don't hit their jumpers they are going to struggle, the thing is this year we can score in more ways that just the jumper, so we are not as much of a liability to score if the outside shot is going down...
Either way our shoooters are too good, not to at least make a couple and the other team is going to respect the outside shot even if we are a little cold, so the middle will be open to penetrate...
